??? 9700, Toshiba Satellite P30, Vista driver

Hello,

I have a small driver problem with vista and a toshiba satellite p30 laptop. Its running a 128mb mobility radeon 9700.

The problem seems to be driver related. I get a yellow exclamation mark on the device manager for the vid card. The device manager lists the right thing but cant seem to get the card to work good. I tried many different sets of drivers.

First, the basic set that came with windows. Then some beta rc drivers and finally their official 7.1 cat drivers. All does the exact same problem, drivers doesnt seem to load or something like it.

So far, the only set of drivers that works good with vista is the mobility XP 6.5 drivers specifically. It wont run aero in vista but i can get the native resolution in and my softwares are running at an acceptable level.

Any ideas as to where the problem is? amd tech support doesnt support toshiba.... toshiba not giving any email adresses and a broken vista download link... So its a bit problematic for me right now. Vista is very usable but the right drivers could defenatly help it out. While googleing out for a solution, i found a few similar threads out there but seems to be limited to the satellite p30.

Thanks alot in advance for any help!!!

Have you tried checking for manufacturer-specific chipset drivers? VIA, Intel, for example... I've seen some reports of chipset drivers correcting odd video problems, but one they'll almost certainly fix is a blaring "!" icon. Do you know what chipset your computer uses?

solution!!!

go to the toshiba website and download the xp drivers expand them but deselect open setup.exe after finished
u have to force the driver to install....go to device manager select the video card and update the driver select that u want to choose a driver and then select that u have a disk....go to where the driver expanded and select it from the list....two mobile radeon 9700's come up on the list i chose the first one and it worked for me probably wont work on a 64 bit install but works for me with me with my p30 on vista ultimate 32bit....
