Help With My Mobility Radeon 7500

k, I've been having this problem for a WHILE, okay, i accidentally uninstalled something from my remove programs list, and i think it was my video driver, So I'm looking on the internet for at least 1 month now, looking for a new one, ive been through the omega drivers, catalyst, but this problem occurs, "unable to install or something" "please install a standard vga driver first or something" so i go out and look for one, i cant find ONE, I'm looking for a driver for this because i wish to continue playing games on my computer, such as gunbound, warcraft III frozen throne, counter strike....
i recently got this thing called "ATI Tray Tools" but its not working for my "direct3d" and when i do the dxdiag.exe, i look and it wont let me get to click on my direct3d acceleration and stuff so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help!
i cant just reformat because i lost my cd, friend is using it....
im guesisng i need a vga driver before i can install the catalyst, and i went to the ati.amd site or whatever it doesnt have a catalyst that works for the "mobility radeon 7500", as a matter infact, its not even listed in there...
LOOKING FOR
VGA DRIVER!
DIRECT3D DRIVER!
then i can install the catalyst i think.

Welcome to the DH forums Lone_Neko...

First, uninstall the ATI Tray Tools (but you can install that later if you need to) and any ATI or Omegadrive driversets you may have installed.

Second, get the DirectX redistributable file (big - 40 or so Megs) and install that from Microsoft DirectX Download site

Third, get the Omegadrivers version 6.5 from DriverHeaven Downloads and install them. That version is the last Omegadrive Catalyst that supports your 7500 chip.

That should get you going.

setup cannot copy the file aticdxx.ini

ensure that the location specifiied below is correct,
or change it and insert 'ATI Technology Inc. Installation Disk (VIDEO) in the drive you specify

c:\program files\radeon omega drivers\v3.8.252\2kxp_inf

what now?

Re: Help With My Mobility Radeon 7500

Hi, I have a problem with attaching secondary 16:9 monitor - the picture is stretched. I got directed to this page and I have few questions:

were I supposed to have ATI tray tools, cos i can't find them?

Is there a newer version than "Omegadrivers version 6.5" I should install?

get a newer DirectX redistributable file as well?

Cheers!

Adjust the resolution for that screen to something that better fits its aspect ratio.

It's a 3rd party program.

Re: Help With My Mobility Radeon 7500

This is great information, but i'm having a little problem.
I'm running an Inspiron 5100 with the mobility radeon 7500 64mb (yeah, not the 32).
I just reformatted one of my other hard drives and did a fresh install of windows to test this out as i just got a new 22" and it's connected via SVGA cable. It works great and has a beautiful resolution.
The problem i'm having is that in using the correct resolution for the tv, it automatically lowers the resolution on my laptop screen. it's suppose to be 1400x1050 but it gets changed to 1024x758. it sucks. i've tried every adjustment i could think of but if i change the resolution on my laptop screen, it offsets the screen on the tv.
Are there any ideas on how to "lock" both screens at specific resolutions or something? or am i missing something?
I switched back to my other hard drive and am running the tv on 1024x768. I wish there was a something i could use to control the television resolution without changing my laptop res.
