mobile 9700 not supporting full res

hi,
i am new here so hello to everyone

ive got a problem that i'm hoping someone can help with i have a mobile radeon 9700 i'm running windows vista home premium and when i loaded it was all fine but it said the drivers where out of date for the graphics card so i downloaded the 7.2 catalist from ati since then it will only let me have max res of 1024x768 before under the windows ati driver i was getting 1280 x 800, problem is it's hurting my eye's reading everything as it looks a little blurred on the screen.

I'm going to have to charge ati for some glasses soon if i can't sort it.
