Problems with Radeon x1400

Hi, I have a Dell E1505. I'm new to graphics cards and i recently upgraded my radeon omega to the newest version which is omega 3.8.330. Ever since none of my games will appear in fullscreen they all have a black vertical strip on either side. Now my games crash often too. My laptop runs slow now and freezes everytime i use the volume controls or play contorls on the front of my laptop. I ran a virus scan and nothing was found. I'm really worried i could have downloaded the wrong thing and messed up my laptop. Any help?
