X2300 doesn't work with XP

Hi folks,

I bought a ASUS-notebook Z53 F3JR with an ATI MOBILITY RADEON X2300 an
VISTA installed for I don't like VISTA I installed XP prof, without any
driver support from ASUS or ATI.

The DHmodtool4.exe for XP was my last hope to make it work, but it failed even with
Catalyst 6.8 as 7.3 or 7.4 (XP Version of course). http://www.hardwareheaven.com/images/b...lies/frown.gif

Any idea what's missing? Maybe there's no support for the X2300 in DHmodtool?

Please help! I'm nearly desperate having a great Notebook with poor
graphics. Thanx a lot!

ATM, there is no support in xp for the x2300... you MUST contact Asus for a driver or to ask them to allow ATI to support your chips.

if you can, you should post your chips IDs so that the mobility modder could add your chip to it.

o.k., what is the chips ID and where do I find them?

open up the device manager,

go to display adapters (or if the device has no drivers, it should be in the ? area of unknown devices with standard vga device or similare)

Right click on it and hit properties,

Next go over to details tab, in the drop down menu, you'll want to select i believe Hardware IDs (or similare)

If you can Copy the entire string out and paste it here, or PM the people responcible for the mobility modder for XP, and see if they wouldn't mind adding the string to the tool

If i'm incorrect, they should be able to correct me.
