Omega 3.8.360 prevents XP from Booting

I have an Acer TravelMate 8101WLMi with a mobility X700 graphics card, and have just attempted to update from 3.8.330 to 3.8.360.

After updating, Windows would hang with a black screen at the point where the XP boot screen would normally disappear and display the desktop.

More annoyingly, even after going into safe mode, removing 3.8.360, running DriverCleanerPro and installing 3.8.330 again, this is still happening! Even with all the ATI drivers removed and the card set to Standard VGA it still happens. I have also tried the official Catalyst 7.5 drivers modded with the ATI patcher on this site and have the same problem.

Any advice appreciated.

Fixed now. Sysprep followed by a repair install seems to have done the trick (though introduced lots of other new bugs such as windowsupdate opening in Firefox), now running cat 7.5 modded using the patcher on this site, at least I can play games again
