Omega vs. Mobility Modder...

I've been a faithful Omega Driver user for a few years, but my Mobility Radeon 7500 only works with his Cat 6.5 or lower.

However, it appears that I could try installing the latest Catalyst drivers (is it 7.6 now?) by using this site's Mobility Modder.

Can anyone tell me if using the Mobility Modder on Cat 7.6 with my 7500 is possible? Is it advisable? Would it make any difference at all than with the Cat 6.5 I'm using now?

Hello:

ATi Stopped supporting all pre R300 core GPUs. Specifically, anything older than a Radeon 9550 will not work properly with Catalyst 6.6 or above.

There is a legacy Catalyst 6.11 with "pre-r300" in its file name (available from ATi) but it is basically Catalyst 6.5 with a few tweaks here and there.

DO NOT use the mobility modder for use with Catalyst 7.6 and your current Radeon 7500, otherewise you'll end up with BSODs or other fun system glitches.

I suggest sticking with the omega drivers based Catalyst 6.5;

If you really need too (but i still don't recommend it), you can download the "pre-r300" Catalyst 6.11 from ATi by choosing Radeon 7500 in the download list, and then using the Mobility Modder tool provided from DriverHeaven's front page: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool/
