Problem with Mobility Radeon 9000 and Catalyst

Hi!
My specs are Acer Aspire 1603, P4 2600, 512 Mb ram DDR, 60 GB hard disk, ati radeon mobility 9000.
In order to play the last civilization 4 expansion (beyond the sword) i've had to install newer drivers for my mobility radeon 9000 (as i had been using 2003 drivers)!
The result is that if i install catalyst drivers:
1)until the 6.6 version civilization works correctly but i can't watch any video with no player (vlc,winamp or media player...), being forced to reboot everytime as my pc crashes!
2)from the 6.7 on i can't play civilization, as i get a "failed to initialize renderer..." error, but i can, at this time, watch videos with my players!
I'm becoming crazy.... please someone help me!!!THANK YOU!

Greetings and welcome to DriverHeaven!

First of all, the Radeon 9000 is no longer supported after the 6.6 drivers as it's a "DirectX 8/Legacy" video card. ATI stopped supporting anything prior to 9550 with the 6.7 drivers and now only supports DirectX9/10 video cards.

Hopefully, someone using mobility video cards can help you. I've moved the thread to the proper forum for you.
