resolution problem with Omega 3.8.360

My laptop:
Toshiba Satellite A100-528
Intel Celeron M 1,60 GHz
512 MB RAM
WinXP HE SP2
DirectX 9.0c
and...
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M (Omega 3.8.360)
15.4" wide-screen
My problem:
Normally I use widescreen resolution - 1280x800. However every time I restart Windows the resolutions goes back to 1024x640. The problem appeard after changing display driver from Toshiba website to Omega.
I've tried many display options but I'm new to this stuff so I'm asking: is there some way to fix this problem?

PS. I've searched this forum for an hour and there was only two slightly similar problems raised but sadly without any answer. If there is a solution somewhere here - please give me a link and delete this msg.

Well, the problem didn't disappear but I noticed that after BSoD the problem did not occur. Is there anyone who can help me? :/
