Acer ATI x1600 Problems

Whats up ladies and gents, long time visitor and first time poster with HUGE problems.

I have had an Acer Travelmate 4670 for about a year now and it has not given me too much trouble until I tried playing games like the Witcher and now The Orange Box.

When I try to boot Team Fortress or Portal, Steam says that I need driver updates for my graphics card. I tried my luck and pressed "continue anyway" and the games start with the the logos of Valve come up and the music to the games play but visuals all I get is this light brown box with lines in it that keeps fluctuating. Half Life 2 plays with no problems at all though.

I downloaded the ati driver from Acer support but I am still met with the same notification and ugly boots from both games. I am currently updating my system with .NET 3.5 in hopes that I can download an ATI driver for the 1600 that it has on its website (link: AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities)

Like other Acer users who have posted, the mobility driver that ATI has on its site is only met with a error message that I need to download a driver from Acer but I already did that.

Some one PLEASE help me! I want to plays mah ORANGE BOXXXXX!
