Default Post Installing Catalyst 7.6 or Newer on a Dell

Well, I'm new here so I'm not sure where to post this (as obviously this is my first post ). Anyways, here's my situation:

I have been trying to play Flight Simulator X: Deluxe Edition and haven't installed Acceleration yet. However, once I set FS:X to High or Ultra High settings, after loading all the scenery, etc. and goes through the "Loading..." it crashes saying Fatal Error Occured, Windows is checking for a solution.

So Windows did come up with a solution, stating that ATI Catalyst Control Center had caused the problem and that the solution is to update to at least Catalyst 7.6. However, on Dell's website, the latest Catalyst is 7.3 .

So what I need is an alterntive driver so I can play FS:X on high or ultra high like I know my Graphics Card can do (Since I can play Crysis on High) so any help? I have looked into the Omega Drivers but I don't see a download for Vista.

Thank You!

Hi there and Welcome to DriverHeaven!

It's not recommended to play FSX on Ultra or High on mobility X1400, since fps you would have are close to 10 fps or lower. For Vista there aren't Omega drivers yet. Only thing what you could do is to get the mobility modder and use it to mod CAT 7.12 drivers. Remember that to read the instructions on the mod tool site.

Get the mod tool here : http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool/
Get the drivers here : AMD GAME! Drivers and Utilities

Thank you for your help temeteus82, I did what you said and downloaded mobility modder as well as the new Catalyst, version 7.12, and everything is working great. As for the note about not running FS:X on High or Ultra High, it seems to be running smoothly on Ultra High.

Again, thank you for your help.

Thanks temeteus82 for the help. I had been looking for a solution to run FLight simulator X for at least a week when I found this thread.

I followed the instructions you provided and I am enjoying the simulator like it was designed to be used.

Thanks again.
