open gl problem

hello guys!
i got a new notebook where vista was preinstalled. so i decided to uninstall vista and install xp. i was lucky because i found even an ati driver (from ati) for my ati mobility 2600HD. but unfortunately for example crysis laggs with this driver. so i decided to get the omega driver and yeah, i installed it and crysis didnt lag, other games to. counter strike works also fine.
BUT a few days ago i had to reinstall windows alot of times -.- and after i finished i installed all important driver like i had them the last time (omega driver too)and i realised that my counter-strike has a problem with the openGL option. when i start the game there comes a message:"the specified video mode is not supported.the game will now run in software mode".
then counter-strike sets its rendering settings to "software" instead of "openGL". and this sucks! because it looks terrible and you arent able to play.

so WHY i cant use openGL with the latest omega driver?before i reinstalled windows it did work very fine ... also with the latest omega driver.

note: i ve found an option at the ATI 3D CONTROL PANEL -> 3D -> 3D Settings where you can chosse between DIRECT3D and OPENGL. defautly DIRECT3D is marked, so i just marked OPENGL but after saying OK it restores the setting to DIRECT3D...dont know what to do

please help!!

I have the same issue completely.... EXACTLY. Except my laptop is older and its a radeon mobility x600, using the omega drivers. HELP US PLS

I fixed mine... found and installed an old driver from omega (2.5.51) the non-Counterstrike-optimized option. It works fine for CS and still runs my other applications just great.
