Toshiba P205D-S7802 w/ Radeon X1200 and WinXP SP2

howdy forum...I'm not an internals or hardware kinda guy so I've been enjoying the *ahem* "opportunity to learn" presented by loading Win XP on my P205D (which the good folks at Toshiba refuse to support since the laptop was "designed for Vista").

I finally got the driver loaded (it only took me three days to find this forum...thanks for the solution...). I downloaded ccc 8.whatever, edited the inf file to change the X1200E entry to X1200F, and used the "have disk" method to update the driver. So everything is working but the SM Bus.

Toshiba P205D-S7802

ATI Radeon
® X1200 128MB-319MB dynamically allocated shared
graphics memory

Hardware eyedeez:
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4385&SUBSYS_FF001179&REV_14
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4385&SUBSYS_FF001179
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4385&CC_0C0500
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4385&CC_0C05

I could not find an appropriate XP SM Bus driver on the Toshiba site. Neither have I found it anywhere else and I give up (which is why I am turning to this forum for help...).

Ya'll got anything for me?

Regards,
Caley's old man...

System Specs

this thread's a little old but I spent plenty of time here looking for drivers. This SM Bus driver worked for me (same machine, P205d-s7802):.. not sure if it actually works as I don't really know how to tell. I'm just happy when the little exclamation points disappear.

ATI_SMBus.zip

What I am still looking for is the ACPI device which is an "Unknown Device" and is hidden from the Device Manager by default... here is the ID:

ACPI\TOS1900\2&DABA3FF&0

Does anyone have more info about downgrading these machines?

+++ Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7802 XP Drivers +++ LINKS HERE !!!!!!!! +++

Hey, people!
I bought that Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7802 laptop and thought that it would be easy to lay a Win XP on it, but like everybody here knows - they made it pretty damn hard...
So, I spent like a whole night for searching and was able to put the whole laptop hardware together into one Driver Genius'07 self-installing archive inside a .RAR archive + all the drivers separately put in folders into 2 part .RAR archive (in case self-install won't install everything, so you can do it manually)...
All the files are on RapidShare.Com, so you can download only 1 file an hour. But you only need one (self-install). The others you will have to get in case the first one won't work...
ENJOY!!! The laptop is flying like a rocket under XP - SCREW VISTA !!!

Thumbs Up! Thank You

Thank you for your post with the Toshiba notebook drivers. I am going to do a down grade from Vista to XP and you sure saved me a lot of time.

Just a question, do you know if XP SP3 will work or should I leave it at SP2.

Thanks again

Web

And I second that about SCREW VISTA. Everyone that I know that is using it hates it. I don't think it will be around long. Seems like another Windows ME fiasco.

Xp Pro 64

I am going to try to do the installation with Windows XP 64 since this computer has a 64 bit processor. Will report back.

Did you need and if so which SATA driver did you use for the F6 install drivers during install of XP? Did you use XP 32 or 64. I can't seem to find an SATA driver anywhere and the P205D-S7802 has an SATA drive.

I also was wondering if this computer uses the NForce 4 chipset.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Toshiba P205D-S7802 w/ Radeon X1200 and WinXP SP2

I have a serious problem here, I can't even get to the desktop, mine keeps quickly flashing a blue screen then restarts. I know that this is a hardware issue because of the blue screen and XP. So my question here is, what the hell do I need to do to get XP on this laptop? I have already fully formatted the HDD and nothing works!!!
What is it that is causing all this?
I have tried the F6 thing, but I can't do anything without a floppy drive so it says...
I have the ACPI driver for SATA and I am writing this using the HDD for the laptop on my desktop. I have installed all drivers and patches that I have found, and I can't get it to boot passed the XP logo screen.
