Black bars on sides of Warcraft 3 with new driver update.

Recently I installed the new omega radeon drivers, version 4.8. For the most part graphics improved. However, in warcraft 3 I now have black bars on the left and right. When I adjust the resolution in the game it only magnifies it, the black bars don't change.

I am assuming the drivers have something to do with this, can anyone give me any advice?

Kyishi is on a distinguished road

go to regedit, h current user, blizzard, then warcraft 3, edit the width and height: change the heximal binary to 1280 x 800, then the side bars should be gone.

Resource: widescreengaming.com

I;m having the side bar problem with Drift City, it seems connected to the omega drivers, any help?

Yeah I tried that above and it didn't work. Did it work for you?

I think the drivers are preventing stretching of the screen for some reason.

Anyone else have this problem? I actually have a new laptop now, installed the new catalyst drivers and it is still happening.

I am not familiar with mobile drivers and wish I could help you out more. You originally started this thread over a year ago anybody have any ideas?

Re: Black bars on sides of Warcraft 3 with new driver update.

FINALLY figured it out. In the catalyst control center under one of the headings there is something that says preserve aspect ratio or fit to screen. If you select that then it will always just stretch to screen.

If only mobility modder worked . I tried it a few times but every time it says it is an invalid mobile driver and everything goes haywire. I just had to settle with the video driver from Lenovo which doesn't seem to want to play the newest games.
