PowerPlay not working since Cat 8.3

I've been having problems with CCC on the more recent Catalyst versions and am wondering if any other users are experiencing this problem as well. I am using an Asus laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon X1700, running Windows Vista 32-bit. The drivers are updated by modding the official Catalyst drivers with the DHMobilityModder.NET 1.0.

The problem has occured in every version of CCC since the 8.3 package. Basically, the PowerPlay page shows all blank data fields and drop down menus, i.e. no information on the current schemes, battery level or PowerPlay modes is shown.

I have kept updating the Catalyst package up to 8.5 as recently as last week but so far have had no luck. Has ATI written X1700 support out of CCC entirely?

I'm only guessing here but perhaps it's because they have been trying to solve an issue with some cards ending up in powerplay's low performance mode, or even switch between high and low clocks when gaming. Since the Mobility aren't officially supported in these driver packages they might have knowingly changed something that leads to that effect.

Just an update: I just installed Catalyst 8.6 and the problem appears to have been resolved. Kudos to AMD/ATI.

NetSoerfer will become famous soon enough

The whole Powerplay page in CCC was corrupt for me on Cat 8.5, now it's back with Cat 8.6. It does work fine when I'm using only my laptop.
However, my X1400m will be clocked at full speed as soon as I connect an external monitor (a Dell 2408WFP via DVI). Is anything known about this, i.e. can anybody confirm this, or does anybody know how to solve this problem?
