??? XP / Radeon ATI Radeon Mobility HD3470 - driver no workie

Two disclaimers: 1) First poster, hi! 2) English is not my first language, so please allow me to apologize in advance for any grammer and spellig errars.

I need your help, people. I have recently purchased a notebook (specifications to follow), installed Windows XP and ... I can't find any graphic card drivers that works.

Acer Aspire 5530G
AMD Turion™/Turion Ultra™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile
AMD M780G Chipset
DDR2 Memory
S-ATA HDD
15.4" WXGA Monitor (220-nit) Acer CrystalBrite™ TFT LCD, 1280 x 800 Pixel
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470
DualView™ Support
MEPG-2/DVD
WMV9 (VC-1) und H.264 (AVC) Support
HDMI™ (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) mit HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) Support

Here's what I tried so far, without success:
ATI Catalyst 8.7 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition
The very same driver, after having used Mobility Modder on it.
(both are giving me a blue screen of death everytime XP attempts to boot)

Radeon Omega Drivers 4.8.442
Again, both with and without Mobility Modder. This driver won't install properly, because it apparently can't find compatible hardware.

That's all.

I'd be exceedingly grateful for any and all assistance in finding and installing the proper driver. Thank you in advance for your help!

Cheers,
Christian

Hi there and welcome to DriverHeaven!

Have you tried to install the modded official Catalyst drivers from the Device Manager? If you haven't you could give it a shot.

..
...

Who do you think you are, fixing my driver issue with an incredibly obvious suggestion that nevertheless eluded me for the entire week! I mean, really!

Umm, thanks a lot! That did it. I don't entirely understand why installing the driver by just executing the .exe install file does not work, whereas using the device manager does the trick just fine. But it's working, and that's what important.

I'm glad you got the problem sorted

Yeah the exe don't always work, so that's why I always recommend the Device Manager install... The .inf files does have the info needed to get the driver working
