??? Performance goes down after a few days

Lo all!

I've recently bought a laptop, the Asus G2K-7R020C with the following specs:
CPU: AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL64
CPU speed: 2,2 GHz
RAM: 2 GB
RAM type: DDR2 RAM (667 MHz)
GPU: Mobility™ Radeon HD2600
Dedicated vid ram: 256 MB
Native Resolution: 1440x900

Sadly Vista was installed on, I tried to like it... never again. So after a format I installed XP and had quite a quest to get all the drivers. Sadly Asus says it's a vista-only laptop and tucked away the XP drivers on their ftp instead of their site. Anyway, everything is installed correctly and runs ok. I used the Mobility Modder to mod the latest drivers (Cataclyst 8.7) and installed them.

Now this is where it gets weird... I can game fine when I just installed the drivers, however, after a few days performance is abysmal and I need to reinstall the drivers. After the reinstall of the drivers its fine again.. for a few days. Ad infinitum.

Obviously this is seriously annoying and I hope anyone could provide me with a solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

Alright people, keep in mind correlation does not mean causation!

I always game at night.. laptop would be on all day.
Gaming performance was bad, while irc+surfing was fine.. so I reinstall drivers.
After that, I would check gaming performance and it was perfect.

But what do you do when you reinstall drivers? Exactly.. you reboot.

Turns out I had a CPU hog which didnt show up in Taskmanager.
The hog was kinda slow as it needed time, so after a reboot it wouldnt hog as much.

Hog is gone.. Performance is fine.

Stupid asus laptop applications..
