"Full Screen" mode in Windows Vista

I still do some PASCAL programming and use DOS apps.
Vista does not support Full Screen mode.

Would installing an XP driver for my video card work, since it still supports 256 color mode which has Full Screen built in, or could i screw up the existing framework utility i use to compile with?

I tried DOS box, but no go.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!!!!

Hi there!

First I moved your post to it's own thread because the thread you posted was considered by the site rules as dead....

Now I assume you have mobility X1400 card in your laptop. Installing driver made for XP won't help any bit, it wont install at all since it's made for XP. The only solution for you is to downgrade to Windows XP.

Sdg, what exactly is the problem? I've got Vista Business x64 SP1, Catalyst 7.10 and DOSBox 0.70. When you start DOSBox, press Alt+Enter to get into full screen (I believe that you could also change the fullscreen option in dosbox.conf to fullscreen=true to make it start in full screen, but I haven't tried if it works, while Alt+Enter certainly does, at least here). Then just start whatever you want and enjoy. For the record, I dug out the old Borland C++ 3.1 and it works fine.

Thanks for the info. After reformatting from a failed duel boot experiment with Linux, and scrapping GRUB and bootloaders, restoring the MBR from the recovery DVD, everything works fine now. Vista is pretty tuff.

I updated my DOS Box to v.0.72 from 0.63. Works like a charm!! Thanks again!!
