hmm i'm facing a worse problem here....
after doing the mobility mod, my 3470 card is
recognised as 3450 instead!
That means that i'm actually running on lousier settings
than my card can hold....

How can i solve this?

That isn't actually the case in here. The driver files are the same for all the cards so the cards will work as they are designed to work. It's just few lines of text in the drivers .inf files that miss identifies the card. So in the end it's a bit like a typo in the device manager.

But what driver should I download when I can't find the name of my graphic card? I have Mobility Radeon HD3470 and it seems that there is no driver updates for this card.

It's clearly said in the guide that is on the mobility modder's web page.

3: Download the newest desktop drivers from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (or get them from Driver Heaven Downloads). If you are using Windows XP make sure to download .net framework from Microsoft (this is built into Windows Vista so there is no need to install it).

Yes, I know that. But as I said my graphic card is not listed. So if it's not listed what should I do?

Did you read the supported hardware list on the mobility modder page? It clearly has the mobility HD 3470 for Vista and XP supported.

Ok, I guess I don't really understand how this program works. But on the page it is said that I should go and download the driver for my card on Advanced Micro Devices Inc. but I can't do that because my card isn't listed. Do you know what I mean?

Yes I know and you are mixing up what AMD says and what the mod tools site says. The modtool will modify the driver so that it can be used for the mobility cards. So the Driver you need is the normal "desktop" driver from AMD. Then you use the mod tool to modify the driver so that you can install it to your system.

ok i just realised, its not only the name that is wrong,
but memory size too, earlier, i said the mobility modder
detected my card as 3450 even though it was 3470.

but my memory size is now 1535mb...even though
i have 2g hypermemory and 256 mb dedicated...

also, as you can see, my core clock speeds are all
lower than what 3470 should be.

is this right? i mean, im not sure, i've tried the modder
for all the new catalyst version that come out, but
they still reflect as 3450.... my stats below...

Quote:
Primary Adapter
Graphics Card Manufacturer Powered by ATI
Graphics Chipset ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3450

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 for Vista

I have the same problem also but I am using Vista 64 Business.

I also bought an Asus F6V 13.3" with ATI 3470 256MB. I took out the Vista 32 it came with and put on Vista 64 since it came with 4GB ram. Why they did not put on Vista 64 with 4GB stock I have no idea.

After installing it I find out that there are no 64bit drivers for the ati card. So I use the mobility modder for the 8.11 drivers and it installs and works perfectly. Except the part where it detects the card as a 3450 and stuck with 550/500 gpu/mem clock settings.

If anybody has a fix that would be grand.

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 for Vista

When u look in the CL_70229.inf after modding there is no right entry for the 3470 i think.

[ATI.Mfg]
; Modded with DH Mobility Modder.NET
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 3470" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4

my 3470 has under a preinstalled vista a hardware as follows:

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4&SUBSYS_FF5A1179&REV_00

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 for Vista

Hey can anyone help me, i'm having problems after the install and modifying with windows.

I installed the correct drivers for my Radeon HD 3470, and used the modifier. However, i can't run CCC because Windows doesen't allow me :O it shuts down the program and doesen't allow me to change the settings to open it without Vista's protection on..

What am i supposed to do?

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 for Vista

I also have the problem with graphic card being recognized as 3450 instead of 3470 I have.

And I also found that the modded driver is slower than what my Sony VAIO FW23G provided.
