help HPnc8000 Rad Mob 9600 wXP HDTV + lost res

Well this is my first presence on this site I would like to say you a warm "Hi everyone" from up (cold) North. Maybe someone can be kind enough to help me. Thanks in advance.

I have :
- HP Nc8000 laptop with an ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 video card.
- win XP pro sp3
- 1,5 GB ram

Until recently I had an HP-ATI driver installed and had access to 1366x768 resolution mode for my 32” HDTV. Then after a HD crash I had to reinstall and never found back any driver with 1366 x 768 resolution. None of the drivers I have installed from HP (I tried several). As I am not deeply technical I was a little shy to install anything other than the HP drivers.

Anyways I saw on some support site that omega driver could be a solution so I gave it a try and installed v 4.8.442. I have now access to 1360 (not 1366) x 768. I guess that it will make it.

1) My main problem is I “lost” many higher resolutions. Most of all I lost the 1400x1050 option on my second (external) monitor. I work with dual screens and need them both at 1400x1050. Now available on only one monitor. I tried several options but cannot get it.

2) Second question: What is the impact of 1366 (instead of 1360) x 768 ? Should I get it to 1366?

3) I also saw somewhere about DH Mobility Moder, I downloaded it but before going too far I would like some advise.

4) I am pretty "green" to this kind of stuff (video drivers). Where should I start? Is there a user guide for omega? There are so many options I did not find any help other than web and it points to this Forum. Is there some kind of introduction guide somewhere "video drivers 101" ? I did some research but did not find any.

Anyways if someone could help it would be appreciated.

1) the omega drivers seem to get rid of some of the standard resolutions available when you try to change your resolution using 'desktop properties->settings' like you normally would. try changing the rez using the MultiRes program in the systray...it should have a ton of resolutions...even higher ones that won't be supported.
