ATI Radeon Mobility x700 + ASUS Notebbok

I've been having some audio problems lately. The sound card on my ASUS/Chembook z70va sometimes fails and sometimes works perfectly.

I have no indications of a hardware or driver failure. According to the properties of the audio driver, everything is working fine.

But there are times when I don't get any sound or there is some snap/crackle/pop.

If I shut down and come back a few hours later, the audio appears to be normal.

I use the driver cleaner and the mobility modder to install the new ATI video drivers, and I'm wondering if there could be some type of conflict.

I didn't notice this problem until sometime after installing the 8.11 version of the ATI Radeon Mobility x700 driver.

I'm on Windows XP if that helps.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
