Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
Hey, i have an Asus X59SL laptop with the HD3470 in it.
Checking the CCC info, I see that the stock clocks are 500Mhz core, 400Mhz memory, which I think are the HD3450 clocks, or even below those. According to: Notebookcheck: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 This card shoud have 680Mhz core, and at least 500Mhz memory. I tried to overclock the card to it "supposed" stock clocks, but i just can't: - AMD gpu clock does not work on this laptop, even its latest version. - on ATI Tool (latest version for Vista) stock clocks are 247/278 and whenever i move the clock bar higher it just gets back to its initial position The card name is displayed as HD3470 (not 3450), and I use the stock asus drivers on windows vista. I really could use some help, because it is frustrating to have a downclocked card, and it is not because of a power sheme or power saving, my games indeed run at 500/400Mhz when on performance mode. Some feedback is really apreciated!! |

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
I have the same problem, but I have heard some manufacturers lock the GPU clock to a lower frequency to reduce the power dissipation, by the way,my notebook is ASUS X50SL, maybe they also did it with our HD3470.
And I also waiting for someone can answer the question. |

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
I am facing a similar issue, but it is slightly worse
my HD 3450 clocks, which should be 500/500, are set to 250/247 .. Underclocked to half of its capacity, might as well give me an older card then, no? What the issue here is, as far as my research has provided, is that the Bios of the radeon is edited in such a way by Dell (in my case) as to prevent any sort of overclocking, namely due to heating/cooling issues. The only way to fix this is to Flash the bios with a different bios. I've yet to find a good enough guide/resource to go through with this operation on my own computer. It is quite disheartening to know that I am using only a fraction of what I paid for, however |

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
nyar, I'm kinda with you on this one...
In GPU-Z, it shows 249/346 for me...ugly. Max of course is 500/500...we should open a new thread

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
I've looked here: techPowerUp! :: Video Bios Collection
but there is no HD 3450 listed If you have your card listed there, you should be able to do flash your bios to something more logical. |

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
Try using 8.9 and 8.10 Catalyst drivers, mobility modded, this should allow you to change your clocks. Post back if its successful.

Re: Help with mobility HD3470 clocks
Anyone tried the old drivers? I have the problem too on my Compaq Presario CQ40-304AX
I don't think the BIOS can be flashed safely though; It seems integrated with the system BIOS and winflash just gives me BSOD when trying to read it. |
