ATI 2400HD mobility resolution problem

Hey,
first of all I would like to thank you for this great forum!

I got a "little" problem with my ati 2400hd mobility graphic card.

OS: XP SP2
Laptop: Lg E500
I want to connect it to a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW, but I can’t get the right resolution (1680X1050) working. It seems like the card only supports the resolutions of the internal display (PhilipsLCD LP154WX4-TLC3) which supports 1280X800.
I already tried all different kind of things, like several driver versions (7.X, 8,X and also the newest 9,2), omega drivers, installing the SyncMaster 205BW driver etc.

The right resolution just doesn’t appear in the CCC and when I force it in the CCC the display(s) switches into panning mode (or I get a blackscreen, depends on the driver version).
The only reason I didn’t give up on this problem is, that it works perfectly when I run Vista.

I hope that you can help me out, because I really don’t know what else I can do!
