Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Hello. I want to install catalyst drivers 9.3 for Win7 32bit on ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700, but unsuccessfully.
I downloaded "9-3_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe", modification passed with
Mobility Modder.NET v1.1.2.0. Then run setup, but after reboot I noticed, that drivers were not installed.
I also copied report about hardware from ati setup:
Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
Device ID 0x4e50
Vendor ID 0x1002
Class Code 0x030000
Revision ID 0x00
Subsystem ID 0x8052
Subsystem vendor ID 0x1071

Can somebody help? Thanks

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

since 9600/9700 dont appear when choosing the drivers for win7, i suppose theyre not supported. like catalyst software & dd after 6.11 dont suport pre-r300 adapters.

try installing real mobility 9600/9700 drivers for vista.

Great thread, awesome... Thanks!

Now I can easily tackle Win7 w/ATI 1600 on my Macbook Pro.

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

I have not found a way to install them either. I believe that this is due to the fact that ATI changed the structure of the driver .inf files such that Mobility Modder cannot properly modify them anymore.

I have also tried to manually modify the .inf files, but to no avail. I expect the next version of Mobility Modder to work with 9.3 & 7 again though.

It is true that ATI does not regularly update drivers for series older than Radeon HD 2xxx anymore. I think that 9.3, however, is one of those quarterly driver updates that supports older series as well. If I'm right, 9.4 and 9.5 won't support series older than HD 2xxx, but 9.6 will again.

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Okay, I got it. I do not fully understand what I did since I downloaded and modified an .inf from another website - Tablet PC and Mobile PC Forums - ATI graphics driver under Windows 7 - but I'll sum up what I did as best as I can, hoping it may help others.

I downloaded the full CCC 9.3 package from game.amd.com and the Mobility Modder including the new .exe 1.1.2.0 beta from the http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...ml#post1223162.

I started off just like I would with any other version, extracting the driver and modding it. Then I installed it, noting that everything but the driver itself was installed.

Now I took the .inf I downloaded, modified it so it fit my card (essentially replacing every RS600M entry with M54, and adding

"ATI Mobility Radeon X1400" = ati2mtag_M54, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7145&SUBSYS_202A17AA

to the list). I got all the bold values from the device manager.

Then I went to the device manager and manually updated the driver for my graphics card, choosing the .inf manually and deselecting "Show only compatible drivers". After a warning about the driver not being signed, it installed without any further problems.

Right now I'm running Windows 7 with Catalyst 9.3 on my Mobility Radeon X1400.

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Hi everyone..

Im using Vista sp1 (x32) on my laptop with mob. radeon x1600..

The 9.3 catalyst doesn't seem to work, i ran mobility modder just like always, modification gave no errors, but then the installation does not work correctly.. the CCC is installed but the display driver failed..

Before, I have uninstalled all via uninstall routine and then ran driver cleaner afterwards (both in normal system and in safe mode), so all ATI stuff should be gone now

Didnt try the manual .inf modification..

Which lines must i add for the mobility radeon x 1600 ?

1)use the DH Mobility Modder.NET v1110/v1120 to modify Catalyst 9.3 , then find out the CL_76828.inf
2)copy
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 " = ati2mtag_M10, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4E50
and paste below the [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1] section
3) goto device manager=>display adaptor=>update driver software...=>browse my computer for driver software=>let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer=>Have Disk...=>find out the CL_76828.inf, then choices ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 and agree to install, we have a new driver now (can restart or later after step 4)
4) goto run Catalyst 9.3 setup.exe, then we have a Catalyst control center, good luck!

Note: My laptop is sony vaio S36TP(ie. s360 in US), use ATI 9700

after modding, this tuning works for me:
[ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1]
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1600" = ati2mtag_M56, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C5

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

I had some luck with my driver updating. I have Vista 64 with an HD2600 card. I used the updated beta .exe that's linked through post 36 of this thread. I downloaded the CCC and the driver independently from ati.com. I ran the newer Mobility Modder on the driver, then modified it for my memory. This driver finally installed and I now have the newest driver.
The issue I'm still having right now is that the CCC won't install. It says it's successful on the install, but then I don't have CCC anywhere. Any ideas how to get this to work? Is it possible to run the full CCC package and just turn off driver part of install, so that it doesn't try to replace the current updated driver with the unmodified one?

Hoping to get this dealt with as well as get the newest HDMI driver installed so I can actually get this hooked up to what I'll be using as my primary display (26" LG TV). The original driver doesn't work with sound and causes stuttering in the video.

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

From my understanding and experience, Mobility Modder's current release does not work with 9.2 or 9.3. I noticed even in this thread someone had posted a link in reply 36 to a working version of Mobility Modder. I think the link says something like "possible fix for 9.2 or later". Go to that thread and click on where it says to click and you will get a zip file to download. Once downloaded, unzip it directly to the Mobility Modder folder in Program files (if you did the default install). A window should come up saying that the files are the same, do you want to replace them and you click "Yes to all".

Once that's done, Mobility Modder should fully modify your drivers. I did this on my laptop (vista 64, hd2600) and my girlfriends laptop (xp pro, x1600) and both laptops are now running the latest ati driver and CCC without having to manually change anything.

Oh, and once it's correctly modified and you are installing it, you will get a warning about the driver not being signed or such. This is due to the modification made, just install anyways.

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Alright, I've been using Mobility Modder for a while now, but I'll be honest, I can't get this to work with 9.3. I've tried using the .zip file mentioned in the post above me, but that didn't help.

I'm trying to install 9.3 on a Mobility Radeon X1400, Dell E1705. What do I need to do to get this to work? CCC installs fine, the driver doesn't (obviously).

Thanks in advance!

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Ok, i finally got it to work, without any manual modification...
Heres what ive done:
- Downloaded the Full 9.3 Package from amd site
- Downloaded the MM Beta Fix (http://www.hardwareheaven.com/driverhe...9-2-later.html)
- Extracted the MM Beta into the directory where i installed MM and replaced the old exe file
- Extracted the 9.3 Package and cancelled the installation
- Ran MM (The version of the beta is 1.1.2.0) and modded the driver (just like in the official guide (driverheaven.net/modtool.php)
- Started the Setup.exe in the Driver directory
Et voila, this installed the Driver and CCC. Log file was clean, said everything ok (Of course there is the no certification warning during display driver install)

Mobility x1600, Vista 32 SP1

Some ppl here obviously tried the same and still had issues, maybe because of some old files left over from previous driver installations.
I have the Driver Cleaner and cleaned everything related to AMD/ATI before i did those steps above (Even twice, in normal mode and in safe mode, but i think in safe mode everything was already cleaned).

[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0] in the CH_xxxxx.inf file
and
[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1] in the C7_xxxxx.inf file.

then try installing the driver without MM (you should download the driver and ccc seperately and install ccc after the dd is installed, like doing it when using MM as well).

no guarantee to work, but it could eventually, since it works on other os.
And on what OSs exactly? I tried this before using the updated Modder, but it didn't work...

I tried it with the 9.3 package, but for Vista 32.

This were my inf files in the LH_INF dir:
CL_76828.inf
CW_77071.inf

And the categories in the .inf were [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.1] instead of the amd64 versions, of course.

I added the lines for the Mob. x1600 (Posted in this thread before) but it did not work. When running Setup afterwards, the Display Driver entry was not available (therefore, the CCC was also not there to check) when selecting Custom Installation..

Is this "Subsystem" appendix required?

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

Im trying to install 9.3 on w-xp pro , for my ati mobility radeon 9700. But I'm not even able to follow the steps after running the .exe. After this I can only click continue and cancel which both lead to a end of the installation ;p

It says my system is not compatible , very strange cuz I downloaded the right exe for the right card/OS.

Any idea's ?

Re: Catalyst 9.3 w/ Mobility Modder?

I know this thread is a bit old but i don't like starting up new ones on the same subjects. I apologise now for the length of this thread but i want to put all the information in it so hopefully it doesn't take up too much more of peoples time.

Here's my situation:
I have just installed Win7 64bit
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon X1600

Originally, Windows Update downloaded the ATI graphics driver for the OS and things, albeit shaky, seemed to work. Aero worked fine now etc. My games half worked:
Fallout 3 - Perfect
Doom 3 - Flickered (to the point of not being able to play)

I went about searching these forums as i knew about the mobility modder and thought i would try it out.

I have done the following:
1.
Downloaded 64bit ATI Radeon X1600 Driver SUITE
Extracted it, Used the latest version of the Mobility Modder
Installed the driver. Setup said "Cannot find driver INF"

2.
Downloaded 64bit ATI Radeon X1600 Driver ONLY
Did same as above and got same results.

3.
Downloaded 64bit ATI Radeon X1600 Driver
Extracted it and used the version of the Mobility Modder that is in the first post in this thread. The driver installed (and so did CCC)
Now all of my games work fine but Doom3 still flickers.

**EDIT: sorry the Mobility Modder patch i used was not the first post in this thread but that first post in this:

Each time I looked at the INF files that were extracted and then modified from the C:\ATI\Support.... folder.

Both before and after the Mod tool was used in each case i looked through and saw the line that contained my card:

"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1600" = ati2mtag_M56, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C5

When i used the mod tool version from the first post of this thread, one file has the line and one doesnt:

CH_76829 has the line under [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.0]
C7_77072 does not have a reference to my X1600 and that files cards are listed under [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1]

I don't know exactly but I am thinking it has installed a driver that is not for my exact card? and therefore won't stop flickering on Doom3.

Are the steps i have done above correct? And is there anyone that knows how to fix this problem. Would be much appriciated.

Thanks
Dave
