ATI Radeon IGP 345M Windows7?

Hi I have a compaq presario 2500 notebook and recently installed windows 7. It runs pretty well exept it doesn't recognize my graphics card which is a Radeon IGP 345M so I can't play any games or anything becuase it says I don't have direct x. Can anyone please give me some detailed instructions on how to fix this?

Re: ATI Radeon IGP 345M Windows7?

OK not sure if this will help others with different brand notebooks but it's worth a shot. I recently clean installed Windows 7 to my VAIO PCG-K23 notebook with the ATI IGP 345. Windows 7 used a standard VGA driver and the display does not fill the screen where at most I was able to get 1024x768.I tried a mix of things including the use of other drivers with no success... but what seemed to do the trick was downloading the available XP driver from Sonystyle.com and then running the installer in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.I'm uncertain how this will run games... although this GPU is far from a gaming chip anyways... but at very least the display fills my screen and I am able to view at the highest native resolution this LCD can handle. After a reboot Windows 7 prompts you with a message indicating "there are known issues with the driver" the details show inparticular the ATI control panel apparently does not work. This however does not keep you from changing your resolution settings or configuring an external monitor. I clicked on "Do not show this message again" and "ignore."Again I can't guarantee this will work on other notebook brands but perhaps it's worth a shot. For users with this particular Sony model series... Sony has indicated on their website there will be support for Windows 7 soon however no indication of just how much support as far as drivers go or when. So... for the time being this may prove suitable until Sony decides to provide us with updated W7 driver support.Hope this helps others looking to upgrade to Windows 7 with the ATI IGP 340 series.
