Re: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Drivers & Windows 7??
Thanks so much Zeropoint1971!!
I have just created an account for this occasion. Here is a few more information. The driver can be downloaded there: ATI Catalyst Legacy Display Driver Download the "Catalyst Software Suite 95 MB 10.2 2/24/2010" file and execute (it will extract the files to a folder you will specify). And then, go to the Device Manager, double click on your video card under Display adapters, select the Driver tab, click on Update Driver, click on Browse my Computer for driver software, click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, un-tick Show compatible hardware, click on Have Disk and select the directory where the driver files have been extracted (something like F:\10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF\CL_95951 .inf), click on Open and then on OK. In the list, just select RADEON 9700 PRO and click on Next. It's pretty straightforward then! Oh, do not forget to reboot! And do not forget to refresh your rating (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools). My Gaming rating has gone from 1 to 3.7 and Aero is now working! I'm a happy man. Good luck! |

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Drivers & Windows 7??
Hello, I tried to do exactly what you mentioned and I still get a message saying a problem was encountered and could not install the driver. I've tried everything including the Mobility Modder to know avail... Any other suggestions? Been through this whole forum, tried everything suggested and I am about to smash this computer or someone for that matter.....
Been trying to resolve this matter for a year know on and off, quite frankly, I don't think it can be done on my Toshiba p10. Radeon 9700..... |

Hi guys, I had to register on your website, just so that I could say thank you. I was going to bin my laptop, as I don't get on with XP since they realeased service pack 1 to 3 (original XP was the best version in my own opinion), and my Toshiba Satellite P30 just refused to work with Windows 7, as you all know, I was getting error 43 with my ATI Radeon Mobility 9600/9700 and no trick or 16+ years of being in IT and a geeky teenager got my no where for once, it was just one of those challenges that I spent way too much time on and eventually had to reside to the fact that I would never get it working. However I found your web site by chance and found the above instructions, quoted, and to my shock the've worked. I'm now going to up my hard disk space and memory, so I can stick to my old laptop. Thank's again, keep up the great work and advice, Anthony |

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Drivers & Windows 7??
ZeroPoint:
First of all, you were able to run Windows 7 on your 9200? Does everything work OK? And, do I need to mod the ATI Catalyst drivers before I try the method you list? Or can I just use the Windows 7 dvd to choose the Radeon 9700 Pro driver and go from there? As you know the the Upgrade advisor says I can't run Windows 7. I have a Dell Inspiron 9200 with the Mobility Radeon 9700. Can't wait to install Windows 7 ! thanks |

AW: ATI Mobility Radeon 9600/9700 Drivers & Windows 7??
Hi,
Zeropoint1971's method works perfectly fine! I got a Mobility Radeon 9600. You just don't need to download any Radeon driver. I did open Windows device manager and updated the graphics card driver manually, exactly like Zeropoint described. If you choose from the ATI list you got a very long one with many Radeon cards. There I found Radeon 9600 and installed it. After a restart my resolution got up to 1280x800 and Aero Glass was enabeld automatically. Works very smooth and Windows Score is quite nice for my old notebook (2003). Driver is: 8.56.1.16 (04/25/2009) |
