Cannot install display driver to my new laptop
Good evening,
yesterday I bought a new laptop for my father and it is actually a pretty good one (hd4570, 2ghz core2duo, 4gb). I installed windows 7 as the new operating system to get rid of all those unnecessary things a not selfbuilt computer brings. Now I have a small problem and I already googled through it. I can't install any single driver because most laptops just don't allow this. I already tried your Mobility Modder with the latest drivers (I was varying with versions) and nothing worked. Is there any chance to install a proper graphic driver on this laptop? Thank you in advance, phoenix |

Use DH's mobility modder to mod the current windows 7 AMD/ATi Desktop drivers for that mobile chip that is in the laptop.

Re: Cannot install display driver to my new laptop
Hey,
I had problems installing video driver onto my notebook (Acer with HD3470 and Vista x32) too and this helped me: Downloaded latest driver from ATI (9.5) and modded it with Mobility Modder (changed RAM to 1024MB as well). Installing through setup.exe didnt work, the application always crashed, so I installed driver manually. Here is how in step by step: 1) Click Start 2) Right click Computer, then left click Manage (or something like this, I dont have english enviroment) 3) A window will pop up - in the left section choose and click Devise Manager 4) Find a Display Adapters item and click on the + symbol - you should see a name of your graphic card (mine is ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD3470) 5) Right click, then Update Driver Software... 6) Choose Find In This Computer 7) Browse to find the location of your modded driver (ussually C:\ATI\SUPPORT) - dont forget to check Including Subfolders - and click Next 8) After a while a window with the warning about certificate issue should appear - just click Install Anyway 9) A screen will probably blink black several times - thats all right, your new driver is being installed 10) Enjoy newest graphic driver ![]() I hope this help. PS: I think there is no need for downloading complete ATI suite with WDM and CCC, only driver will suffice. Im using ATI Tray Tools instead of CCC and its better in many ways. And I believe there are better solutions than WDM (The ATI WDM driver is required to enable video capture, TV out and TV tuner features) as well. Last edited by Brizzt; Jun 12, 2009 at 02:46 PM. |

AW: Cannot install display driver to my new laptop
I have tried already to mod the latest drivers but it didn't work for me. And if I try to do this manually it says: I already have the latest Standard VGA graphic adapter. If I try to remove this it is actually installed again after the reboot.
How can I change the RAM in my mobility modder? I have to browse for a certain file but I don't know which one it is. I hope you can help me. |

Re: Cannot install display driver to my new laptop
If you have Vista you must either have UAC (User Acces Control) disabled or run Mobility Modder as an administrator (right click, Run as Administrator) to mod drivers.
To change RAM (its a dedicated RAM, you can change it from 128MB up to 1024MB): 1) Run Mobility Modder as an administrator (or dissable UAC - its better) 2) After modding driver, click Settings, click Change Memory 3) Browse to find CL_80268.inf file (in my case C:\ATI\SUPPORT\9-5_vista32_win7_32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu\Driver\Packages\D rivers\Display\W7_INF) - maybe number will be different depending on driver you are installing, either way it should be CL_somenumbers.inf file 4) Select Mobility Chipset (in my case HD3470) and a memory size (1024MB) 5) Click Modify 6) Youre done ![]() Hope will help
