Dell D600: Lost screen rotation?

I have a Dell Latitude D600 running Win XP Pro SP2. Video is Mobility Radeon 9000. I have a particular use for my laptop that requires I toggle the screen rotation 90 degrees right and turn my laptop on its side with an external keyboard and track ball. I set up a hotkey to do this in the ATI control panel. Until recently, it's worked great.

About a week ago, I lost the rotation function. I occasionally connect to the Internet via WiFi, so my laptop takes these occasions to download Windows, antivirus, etc updates. I rmemeber uninstalling my PC Tools antivirus and downloading and reinstalling it, and there may have been a few Windows updates and well as Spyware Terminator definitions. I also have ZOneAlarm firewall.

Since the rotation stopped, I've:
- downloaded and reinstalled the video driver from the Dell website
- tried to use System Restore to go back in time
- uninstalled the most recent Windows updates
- verified SP 2, not SP3

No joy anywhere yet! Any suggestions are most welcome!

Solved - mostly. I realized the "driver" I was downloading from Dell was _not_ the whole driver, but just an update. So I found the actual driver and installed it, and it's mostly fixed now.
