radeon x1700 help
When ever I play a 3d game it works good for about the first 10-20 minutes then all of a sudden the models start having weird shapes come off them and my performance starts to go way down. (fps down). Will post a screen shot soon.
Also this happens on WOW and CS source and source mods. I have used many drivers and it still happens. edit : the weird black lines coming off the first player model and the ones coming off lights, they are not suppose to be there. They are not always black its what ever they are "stretching off of" and this is a minor one some times they are worse and cause my fps to be like 10 and unplayable. Like I said the first 10 minutes are fine playing then this shit happens. Has happened since I bought the computer 2 years ago, I have reformatted and updated drivers many times still happens. ![]()

Re: radeon x1700 help
What's the rest of the system specs? Might help us determine the issue.

Re: radeon x1700 help
I do not know my temps but the thing is restarting will fix it for 20 minutes some times even a map change or a restarting the game will fix it so it doesn't seem like a temp thing unless switching maps lowers the temp for 20 minutes.

Re: radeon x1700 help
I wish your card had a sensor be nice to see what its running at. Can you post the temps from all the available sensors for us using that program?
Ambient temps will cause BSOD issues as well concerning RAM and VRAM.

Re: radeon x1700 help
Trying turning the details way down and see if it causes ths problem still. Sometimes if you don't stress the vid card as much it might fix the problem. Then at least we would know it is a heat issue.

Re: radeon x1700 help
Well about out of ideas on what you can try mate. The artifacts like you are experiencing are usually caused by overclocking or heat. Most commonly it is a sign that the GPU and VRAM are not communicating properly.

Re: radeon x1700 help
I know this is an old thread, but, since you're playing games on a laptop, you need to make sure the laptop can "breathe". So, don't play games with the laptop on a flat surface or on anything that can prevent airflow from beneath the laptop.
Some people suggest using a wire rack....baking cooler rack, for example...to lift the laptop off the surface and allow airflow. This problem you're having DOES, indeed, sound like a poor airflow problem. |
