x600 - stuck after boot screen

greetings to everyone.

im using compal based system laptop. the model is dl70 with the following spec:
- windows xp pro sp3 (with latest microsoft update)
- intel pentium M 1.73 GHz
- 1 GB ram
- ati mobility radeon x600

my problem is, after i install various driver (including modded driver) for the display adapter, my laptop stuck after showing boot screen.. only blank at my lcd.. i know it is stuck because even the caps lock LED wont lit up.. the only way to enter windows is via safe mood or uninstall the ATI driver..

it is eye sore when u cant get the h/w acceleration..

hope anyone can sort this out. thnx in advance..

It stinks that no one has responded to this. I have the same issue on my HP zd8000. The screen will work in safe mode or when you uninstall the drivers, but not when the drivers are installed. I'd hate to have to get rid of the computer, but I have tried many different things with no positive results, the closest I got to getting it to work was installing WinVista on it. It worked well for about 1 year, then it started giving me the BSOD and looping like it sometimes does on XP when I try to use an external monitor.

The only different that I can think of between your issue and mine is that it does seem to work after boot, but the screen just doesn't work. After the Windows logo comes on and the screen flickers, I see the cursor for about 3-6 seconds and then it dissapears and its just black. I've recovered the computer many times with no avail, I've installed the modded drivers and nothing. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Hope someone has had some good results from this. The xd8000 is not my only computer, but I'd hate to get rid of it since physically, it is in good condition.
