Hi all,
I have been fighting this for some time now I am kind of loosing it. I am running Gateway M-153XL laptop with Radeon Mobility HD 2600 card (HDMI card with integrated HD audio chip) on 32-bit Vista - for HW specs follow this links ATI Mobility Radeon? HD 2600 Specs ???????????????? Did anyone managed to get this GPU to output HDMI audio on Vista? I yes, please let me know which combination of Catalyst/ATI HDMI audio driver/Realtek HD audio codec gets the job done Currently when I connect HDTV (Panasonic TX-P42S10) pic is nice (1920x1080p) but sound is missing, as far as audio is concerned TV supports 2-channel, 16-bit LPCM at following sampling rates 32/44 and 48 kHz (below is decoded EDID) ..the problem is that immediately when HDMI is detected audio goes to mute (and here I mean ATI HDMI output device), so ATI HDMI output in sound devices is correctly detected and switched on but it's muted. After I unplug HDMI sound goes back to laptop speakers (SigmaTel card) and all is OK. (I will post few pics of playback devices/HW devices later) in short configure tab of the ATI HDMI output device is not responding on click at all, also I am missing those green volume indicators when testing sound for ATI HDMI output, enhancements and volume tabs are empty etc so it must be drivers issue, I just can't get it right so any help what so ever is very appriated, many tnx! Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 - HDMI audio mess
works well for me @ hp 8510p business notebook with mobility hd2600, although i dont use vistam but xp & 7. didnt try it with 7 yet, but i will.
i think your problem is one between the ati hdmi driver and your soundcard driver. how do you install the ati drivers? do you install the catalyst software suite or the components individually? i would recommend downloading and installing the components individually (modifying the display driver using MM or manually) for the most recent version, 9.9. however, looking at the specs of your notebook and the downloads available for it on gateway hp, i think the problem is the realtek software, as you should install a sigmatel driver! take a look at this one - do you have it installed? try getting rid of any realtek software since it could conflict with the right driver. |

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 - HDMI audio mess
Hello,
@necrophyte, tnx for reply... below I'am posting couple of screenshots depicting my driver configuration: as I mentioned HDMI audio is detected properly ![]() properties tab (basicaly empty) ![]() catalyst (I have installed this without modding all together) ![]() Hadrware and devices ![]() result - MUTE ![]() I see that you have the MB as I. The thing that bugs me is your proposal to deinstall Realtek (which is obviously not installed properly), I mean SigmaTel is onboard card that has nothing to do with sound IC on ATI or? Untill now I thoght that Realtek provides ATI with audio driver, enyway before I go ahead with new catalyst and removal of realtek I would appretiate if you could post some screenshoth to compare it with what I have (I know OS-s are diffrent but still it maid point me in right direction) many tnx! |

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 - HDMI audio mess
im not 100% sure, but i think theres no need to install any realtek driver on your notebook, since there simply isnt any realtek product present, and ati handles the hdmi by itself. the rest is handled by the soundcard, which is sigmatel.
so imo. the realtek driver is the only problem - uninstall it and install the proper sigmatel driver, then everything should work fine. here you can see that i only have 2 devices, and these are the ati hdmi controller, and my soundmax soundcard - no realtek, no anything else, and everything works great (this is win7, but that doesnt matter). ![]()

Re: ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600 - HDMI audio mess
Hi,
Well I just gave up. Tried reinstalling Sigmatel, no use (before that as you know Realtek HDMI audio, Realtek HD codec, various Catalyst and so on). Finally I just disabled ATI HDMI output completely in device manager, connected 3.5mm at front side of laptop to amplifier (regular HiFi stereo) and HDMI to HDTV and all is well. In general I still think that OEM take over of drivers is bad (especially if you have older laptop) for end user also I hope in future OS-s this HDMI audio setup will be much more user friendly than it is now. Perhaps I will try to configure it when I will port to Windows 7 but for now I had enough. Tnx for support |
