Mobility 2600 HD Catalyst 9.9?

I have attempted to use mobility modder to get the latest catalyst drivers (9.9 which include support for 2600 series cards) and after completing the install and the required reboot, I get a blue screen for atikmdag.sys

I've done the driver cleaner route multiple times, have had no luck whatsoever. My system is Vista 32 SP2 with a mobility radeon 2600 HD. Catalyst 9.7 worked, but 9.9 will not, nor will 9.8.

Any ideas?

Nobody tried the modded catalyst 9.9 with the mobility radeon 2600 HD except me?? Anyone?

I'm also trying to get the Catalyst 9.9 drivers working on my gateway C-140x tablet.

It has an ATI Mobility HD 2300.
I'm running Windows 7 x64 bit.

After successfully modding the drivers, running the setup & agreeing to install the unsigned drivers, my system boots up to the wrong resolution (1024x768) which should be 1280x768. When trying to access the catalyst control center, I get a window that pops up saying:

"No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for your ATI hardware."

Currently the device manager shows:

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

And the properties of the device show:
Driver Provider: ATI Technologies Inc.
Driver Date: 8/13/2009
Driver Version: 8.650.0.0
Driver Signer: Not digitally signed

Help would be appreciated.

Uninstalled the 9.9 drivers and resolution was fine again (drivers listed as running were verified to be the old non-catalyst ones too).

Just tried downloading the catalyst 9.10 drivers by going to amd's site & saying I had a non-mobility Radeon HD 2600 which gave me the link:

However, after modding & installing these drivers, I immediately got a BSOD!

This seems to verify the same problem that a couple others have had with the 9.10 drivers. Windows 7 would not boot at all and simply BSOD every time I tried to boot normally. To get to safe mode, I had to press F8 on startup.

In safe mode, it would not allow me to simply uninstall the old drivers via Add/Remove programs. Instead, I had to goto the device manager & right click on the display adapter. I chose "Roll Back Driver", and let it finish. Then rebooted.

System came up again fine, driver listed now is:

I've been trying to update my c-141xl tablet pc with the HD 2300 for the last year. The latest drivers I have been able to get on with mobility modder are the 8-12 from 2008. I have the exact issue that TrinitronX first stated with his c-140x.

Hi guys,

If you read carefully mobility modder instructions, you will see that it works with desktop drivers, so you should download desktop driver (not mobility driver), extract and when setup begins select "cancel". Turn on mobility modder, do a modification of desktop driver, install driver, restart and good luck.

I was successful with old dell laptop C610 which has VGA-AGP Radeon mobility. First I did modification on downloaded mobility driver(latest available) and I got BSOD, then I tried with desktop driver and works great.

well, read this:

Toshiba Support Forums: Need Win7 32/64 driver for ATI HD2600 ...

It seems that toshiba laptop has big problems with win7 32 or 64, blue screen appear with atixx with any official driver, modded one, etc.
Right now im back on vista 32, on vista no blue screen appear.

If any of you has hd2600, toshiba A200,A210,A215, and running Win7 32 or 64, pls post here if you encounter blue screens, and what video drivers are using.

BLue screens appear at first startup on any day..
If i start computer today for the first time, blue screen. If i start computer today for the second time, no blue screen.
It only crash at first startup,

and it seems bsod not come back, but i have other problem in he counter strike 1.6 opengl doesnt work, but with driver which make bsod error opengl is work in counter strike so anny know solution for this ?

last week, ati mobility 10.5, on 2600 hd, toshiba a210, blue screen at boot with atikmdag.sys...
i do not know what driver to install on vista or win7, without this error.
official toshiba il old, and i get some strange colors in desktop.

Ati catalyst 9.8 is workin ok on toshiba a216 with hd2600, no more atikmdag.sys error when i start the computer.
Catalyst 10.XX is not working, or 11.XX.
I must try 9.9, or newer drivers then 9.8.
If newer drivers then 9.8 will give me this error, i will stick with 9.8 or older.

PS. I install mainboard drivers 9.8 and modded them with mobility catalyst tool.

I believe the atikmdag.sys error is caused by an old version of this atikmdag.sys file that the new drivers can't seem to replace.

Before you install the drivers, follow my latest driver cleaning install below:

What OS, Vista or 7?
I've got similar laptop (A210-16F) and I've been wondering about changing it's Vista to Win 7 but I've read about your problems with Catalyst and 7 ...

on both vista and win7, catalyst 9.8 is ok for hd2600 on toshiba.
10.xx give blue screens.

Lqforce, on an fresh win7 or vista install, even if i try installing a new driver 10.xx, or 11.xx blue screen appear when i start the computer, first boot in a day.
If i start comp, then restart, blue screen does not appear.
Blue screen only appear at first boot from any day.
i think ati modify something in newer drivers.
with 9.8, all is good, and i have over a month with good stability, no more blue screens.

i tried driver game with 9.8, hd live-tv, 3dmark, all is ok.

update dec 2011:

now im on win7 64, drivers that work for toshiba hd2600 is catalyst mainboard 9.8 or 9.12, modded with mobility modder.
Any newer then that crashes with atidag.sys bluescreen or other ati error.
9.12 is the latest one that work ok.

update ian 2012:

win7 64

catalyst 10.6 is ok with hd2600 toshiba, i have powerplay options in catalyst settings.
If i try a newer driver then 10.6, like 10.12 for example, powerplay options dissapear from catalyst control panel.
You could install catalyst mobility 10.6, then:
install avivo from LATEST VERSION( 11.xx)
you could unpack latest mobility driver , at installation choose CUSTOM, and install only AMD CODEC.

Ati has big problems with video SD-HD artifacts in mediacenter, mediaplayer, dvbviewer.
Best driver that fixed this is 9.8 or 11.4, unfortunely this driver 11.4 gives m bluscreens.
