??? Mobility Radeon 9200 issue, please help.

Hi,

I'm a little new here and I'm pretty new when it comes to graphics cards. So hello all and I hope you will be able to help me with this problem .

So, I own a Mobility Radeon 9200 series card and as I updated Windows from SP1 up to SP3, my drivers decided they were now too old for the updated version. I have tried formatting and using the OmegaDrivers provided and I haven't had any luck. The result is simply alike many others issues, a black screen at the windows login.

Now since AMD no longer support the 9200 series, they don't have any nice updated drivers for us 9200 users. So I'm wondering if there are any specific drivers anyone may know of that might help my situation.

I'm amazed that my head hasn't popped from frustration with this old gfx card but at this current time. I'm not in a position to start splashing out money for a new one. If anybody can help I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
Rez

Re: Mobility Radeon 9200 issue, please help.

Well all credit is due to Judas, their solution:

1. Go to AMD's website and download the normal desktop Radeon 9000 Drivers. Once downloaded double click and follow the wizard till files are extracted. Once they are extracted, cancel the installation.

2. Download the ATI Mobility Modder (for those that don't know, is available on this site in the links section). Follow the tutorial for modding the extracted drivers provided.

3. Once the drivers are modded, reboot your PC and spam F8 till you have a number of boot modes listed, select 'VGA enabled'. The screen should now appear and not black out.

4. Once passed the login screen it might prompt you to install the new software drivers for the card. Be sure to select the option to search for the software yourself and set the directory to 'C:\ATI\SUPPORT\6-11-pre-r300_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_38185' it may be different for others but not far off.

5. It should now accept the drivers and recognize your card, set your new resolution as usual you should be set!

(Note: if you have had previous attempts for installing drivers, then make sure you have removed them before trying this, to avoid confusion.)

I thinks that covers it. Hope it helps others too, thanks again to Judas.
