Hello,
I've been trying for a few days now to install the latest drivers and the CCC for my laptop. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 and runs on Windows 7 32 bit. I tried installing the 9.12 and 10.1 drivers with and without the Mobility Modder, but in vain. I am currently using some older drivers I found at the Microsoft Update Catalog (Microsoft Update Catalog), but I would love to have the latest drivers and the CCC. Whenever I try to install the Display Drivers and the CCC via the Modded ATI Install Manager (without modding it, the DD and CCC won't even show up), it runs the install, then the display goes back to 800*600, and when the installation is finished the Install Manager says that it was succesful, and then I get an error message saying that the CCC can not be launched because "no ATI driver is installed or the ATI driver is not functioning properly". When I check the properties of my display adapter, it says that "this hardware has been stopped because problems were reported (code 43)". How do I install my drivers and the CCC properly? Thanks in advance, WebGremlin |

AW: Correctly installing ATI Mobility Radeon Drivers - any help greatly appreciated
Ok, delete the Catalyst that you have installed now with the Catalyst Manager.
Run that Cleaner Tool (http://sites.google.com/site/windows...attredirects=0) Now Mod the 9.12 Catalyst with the Modder and install it, you will find a Tutorial here in the Forum. PS.: The Catalyst 10.1 is not working with the Modder. |

Re: Correctly installing ATI Mobility Radeon Drivers - any help greatly appreciated
Thank you for the reply, Crazzak. But unfortunately that did not work.
Here's what I did: 1. Uninstalled ATI software via the Install Manager, then I uninstalled the Install Manager via Add/remove programs in the Configurationscreen. Then I rebooted. 2. Ran the cleaner tool you gave me, and rebooted again. 3. Uninstalled the current drivers for my display adapter, rebooted. 4. Extracted the 9.12 drivers, and modified it with the Modder tool. 5. Ran setup.exe and installed the drivers and CCC. Then I rebooted. And I still got the "no ATI driver is installed or the ATI driver is not functioning properly"-error. So I repeated step 1 and 2, but this time after step 2 I booted up in safemode. I deleted everything called ati*.* in Windows/system32 and Windows/system32/drivers. Afterwards I rebooted back into normal mode. Then I repeated step 2 (yes I ran the cleaner tool twice), uninstalled the Modder Tool, rebooted and installed it again. Then I performed step 3 to 5 again. But again to no avail. Any other ideas? Regards, WebGremlin |

Try installing the Legacy drivers instead.

Thanks for the reply.
What are legacy drivers and where would I be able to find those for my graphics card type? Are they any different from the 'normal' drivers, and are they at the same point of release? |

Re: Correctly installing ATI Mobility Radeon Drivers - any help greatly appreciated
Right, I downloaded the 9.11 vista32 Legacy Catalyst drivers (ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver).
Before extracting it I removed all ATI software via the install manager and configuration screen and ran the cleaner tool. Then I extracted it. Ran the Modder tool on it. Deleted the current drivers of my Display Driver. Rebooted. and ran setup.exe. Rebooted again, and it seems to be working now! Only thing is, the drivers' version is 8.593.100.0. That isn't the latest version is it? Well, at least I have some decent drivers and CCC running now
