??? ATI mobility radeon HD5470 XP support

Hi everyone,
This may be an unwelcome post but I've run out of places to look. I have a new Acer Aspire 5740G laptop that came with an ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5470 graphics card, working beautifully on Windows 7 of course.
Problem is, I needed to put XP Professional on (now running dual boot with original Win7) for my work. Sadly neither Acer nor ATI will provide drivers for XP for this card. ATI actually suggested trying Omega Drivers (another fail) or the MobilityModder driver. However, my card does not appear to be in the supported list. It seems to be about the only one that isn't!
Could anyone advise me on whether it might be added at a later date and if not, where might I search next? VGA mode is not stopping me working, but it is a bit rubbish!
Thanks in advance.
Nick

Re: ATI mobility radeon HD5470 XP support

Hi Nick, I am having the same problem with ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5470 in my Dell Inspiron N4010. I tried the latest 10.6 Windows XP Installer and it failed to recognize the card under Windows XP and unable to install the driver, however, the HDMI Audio part installed okay. Am I correct that Omega Drivers no longer release updates since Dec 2007 so there is a dead end.

Re: ATI mobility radeon HD5470 XP support

Welcome everybody ! (1st post here)

Same problem... Want to get rid of Win7 on Dell Studio 1458 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470... Don't ask why, I just hate Vista/7 crap...
Modder doesn't work with my card. Drivers from dansrfe's thread doesn't work for me...
Can anyone help???

EDIT: I've tried a few of modded drivers from various sites. Result is always the same - after installation and copying the files, screen goes black (as normal when you install driver on other machines) but doesn't turn back in graphic mode and all I see is blinking cursor in the left upper corner. I've found all missing XP drivers for my laptop but ATI is the ONLY one not working in any way...

EDIT 2 - found guilty: battery. On some chinese website I found out that in order to install XP, I must remove or disable battery in hardware list... This is really weird... After done so, modded drivers started to work... Thanks!
