I just got this gateway m-6862 laptop a week ago. My dumb self tried to update the vbios and not back it up. sad to say it didn't work. now i get 1 long beep and 2 short beeps, and no video. i figured out how to get in the system by taking out the cmos battery. unplugging the laptop battery and ac, then holding down fn and esc, plugging ac and holding down power (for anybody this happened to) the screen comes up and bios post warning is _system configuration data updated error

but thats everytime i restart the pc, plus video and bios is shadowed.
so no gaming,
Is there any good fellows in the world that have some advice or happen to have a gateway ati 2600 512mb gddr3 laptop that can dump their bios and let me get it. i would really appreciate it. thanks

it is a new laptop (if so go for warranty)
is it under warrenty (if so give it in )

and what is the model of ur laptop

Solutions to CMOS Checksum Bad Error

The CMOS Checksum Bad Error can be fixed easily by following the listed steps carefully.
CMOS Battery may not be functioning properly
If you suspect that your CMOS battery is not functioning properly, you can easily change it. Before changing your battery, reboot your computer to make sure that the error still exists. If it does, go into your CMOS and write down all of the settings. If all the settings are lost, you can usually retrieve them from your computer manufacturer. Now locate the battery and remove it, you might need to consult your computer’s manual or technical support to remove your battery (the battery a flat, shiny silver colored and coin-shaped). Your BIOS may have been updated
If your BIOS have been updated recently, your CMOS settings may have reset. Make sure that the values entered in the BIOS are correct or simply reset them to the default settings. If you believe that a virus has updated your BIOS settings, run a virus scan and make sure that the BIOS settings are back to the default.

thanks i tried that and still same thing. its a gateway m-6862 with ati radeon 2600 hd 512mb gddr3 and i bought of craigslist so no warranty. i think i corupted the orginal vbios so my pc boots the onboard graphics, the bios version is 010.073.000.004.027998

is that a card or it is embeded in ur laptop
if it is in ur laptop
for that u need to flash ur laptop that means to drain out all the power including the small battary on ur motherboard of ur laptop

tried that and still nothing. when i turn my laptop on it beeps one long beep and two short beeps
