Thumbs Up! How to modd ATI latest driver for Mobility Radeon X1600 in Windows 7 x64 (tutorial)

I was having a problem when running games on my laptop. They run in a smaller screen than windows. I thought it was due to the installation of Mobility modder. I was wrong. Now i solve this and decide to share with others the solution!

I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. The driver from AMD/ATI is Catalyst v. 10.2 Legacy vista 32-64 (ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver).

  • So if you aren't administrator of your system, you need to run Catalyst with administrator rights. No need to use compatibility mode. Then just click install as seen on picture.

  • After installing, it should appear this window:

  • Now Let's run Mobility Modder. Choose the driver location and disable the UAC. Just hit modify and wait until it's finished.
  • After this let's run setup from driver location, usually C:\ATI\Support\10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc. Install Catalyst.

If your having the same problem as me do this:

Open Catalyst control center in basic mode

Choose Notebook Panel properties\resize the desktop to fit the display panel.

Click go.

Choose option resize to fit the display panel.

There. Your good to go. We can only resize to fit the display panel in basic mode!

I've done this in Windows 7 but it also works in Windows Vista.
It applies either x86/x64 versions, and also from starter version to ultimate.

Thanks very much!

I've search for this issue about 3 days on the internet.
This worked out for me!

Configuration:

Acer Ferrari 5000 with AMD Processor
ATI Radeon Mobility X1600

Wouldn't run at all before this.

Thanks!

Regards,
Bart
