Problem loading Civilization4 with ATI Mobility Radeon 9000

Hi

I have a pretty old Fujitsu Siemens laptop, with WinXp.

I downloaded the Mobility Modder program and tried to install a catalyst driver (http://www.driverheavendownloads.net..._enu_72271.exe)

This installation apparently worked well. However, after I reboot the system, the following appers while trying to load CIV4:

Initialize Renderer Failed. Check DirectX Installation, Latest Graphics Drivers and Graphics Settings Parameters: - width =1024, -height=768, -flagx=0xc, -hwnd=0x1401d0, -adaptrid=0, -devicedi3. Error creation failed: Invalid 3D device type.

Anyone knows how to help me? Thanx!

Is directX updated? Not sure if that's the problem, but a place to start.

Yes. I have updated directX to the most recent version. The funny thing is that a couple of years ago, I was able to play the game on the same laptop with the same mobility radeon card....

I d/l a previous Omega Catalyst version and it worked fine :-)
