radeon mobility 9000 vs S-video issue

I have what to me is a strange issue, Dell Latitude D600 Laptop, latest omega driver...when I first installed the drive everything worked great. I shut down the computer, and the tv..now when I use the laptop connected to the tv all I get is the background screen...no icons, no mouse.. just the backdrop...I uninstalled the driver, booted the system and reinstalled the omega driver..same problem almost, at first the screen looks normal, then after a few seconds the screen on the tv reverts to the background only... everything onthe laptop seems to work fine... have tried going to the control panel..setting it for dual monitors... no luck...same issue... any help is appreciated..

Re: radeon mobility 9000 vs S-video issue

what's 99% most likely occuring is that your tv is losing or wasn't set to be the primary monitor (main screen).. and i think many years ago when i was toying with s-video and RCA video outputs and trying to get it as the primary, i couldn't.

Basically what you must do is Set the screen to "clone" mode....

this will prevent "extending the desktop" resulting in your icons and such being moved over to the primary monitor and the tv being just a 2nd extended screen.

unfortunately i don't have any other suggestions for you... as that is the only way i know of to make it work.
