Which driver for Mobility Radeon 9700
Hi there,
I am new at this and find it very hard to make a choise. In my laptop i have a Mobility Radeon M11 (9700) 256MB DDR 2D/3D VGA AGP8x. Which drivers are the best when i want maximum quality and speed: the original ones that came with the laptop (3DMark03 score 3284);; the DNA based on the 4.12 (3DMark03 score 3288); the Omega bases on the 4.12 (3DMark03 score 3388); the original ATI 4.12 modded with DH MOD; the original ATI 5.01 modded with DH MOD (3DMark03 score 3392)? In all situations no overclocking done. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions. Greetz, Stokvis PS System specs: *Clevo D870P *17" TFT-scherm 16:9 WXGA 1440x900 *Pentium4 3,2GHz 800MHz FSB with hyperthreading Intel 865PE + ICH5 chipset with *Promise Fastrak 100 Lite RAID 0 of 1 2x 60GB 7200rpm HDD RAID 0 *ATI Mobility Radeon M11 (9700) 256MB DDR 2D/3D VGA AGP8x |

Have you tried the Unian 5.1 set? I'm a super fan of the Omega's, but I decided to give this set a try until the next Omega comes out and so far it has been very good to me.

Anything you like would work. I usually prefer doing individual testing, and not just rely on 3DMark scores. How much does the laptop weigh? Should be one biiiiiig monster with a RAID 0 and whatnot.

That's not a Mobility Radeon 9700 if it has 256MB. It only has 128 | 64 but the 9800 has 256MB.

As you've pointed out dersilvio there are 256mb Mobility 9700s out there. You can check out Voodoos website as they also sell them.
As for the drivers, I wouldn't base a set of driver performance on 3DMark. Best thing to do is to settle on the set that performs the best, or at least the best to you on the games you play, and those that are the most stable overall. Personally I've settled with the NGO drivers as they perform the best with Half-Life 2 based games., however Omegas drivers are still the best overall drivers for picture quality and performance, but it's a personal choice. - Tip |
