Thumbs Up! Using Radlink to Overclock Help PLZ

Hello,

I have a Gateway laptop with the fiollowing specs:

AMD Athlon 64-bit 3200+ Mobile Processor Operates at 2.0GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache; HyperTransport technology up to 1600MHz Full duplex
L2 Cache 1 MB
333 MHz PC2700 DDR SODIMM 1 GB
ATI® Mobility RADEON™ 9600 w/64 MB memory Supports 2.0 shaders

Now I have played SH3 with full graphics, SWAT 4, UT2004, Brothers in Arms, Call of Duty, HL2 etc..without any slow down in video preformance.

Now I want to know if using Radlink will boost the memory and overall preformance.

Battlefield 2 states that you need a 128mb card. Based on the above info can overclocking this card give me the boost I need to run BF2? If so what should I set the setting to without damaging my card?

Thanks

overclocking your videocard will definitely not give you the performance boost that an extra 64mb of vram will, but every little bit helps. I think your processor is powerful enough to compensate though. What that does mean is that you will have to make a lot of compromises to visual quality in order to get a reasonable fps. I'm pretty sure there will be very thorough tweaking guides available shortly after the game's release to help you squeeze every last frame out of any computer

Yes,in fact using tweak guides related with game increases performance more than card tweaks. That also has other benefits , tweaking your card may cause incompabilities with other games but tweaking a game's engine doesn't affect other games. Also tweaking games doesn't have risk to damage your hardware.Nowadays most released games with powerful engines (DOOM3 engine,Unreal 2,Half Life 2) includes tweaks related with your hardware, also some of other games have. For example SWAT4 is made with Unreal2 engine with some improvements.

System Specs

You still should be able to play BF2, I would highly doubt the 128MB would be a requirement, more likely "recommended" specs. There are still a lot of people with 64MB cards, and I am sure Electronic Arts would not want to lose those customers.
