??? HELP something with vgasave and vga

hey.. i was bored so i went out and bought diablo 2, 2 weeks ago.. but before that, my compuyter had some immountable_boot_volume.. so i restored my computer and it was better except that when i moved a window it was laggy and the standby button is greyed out i left it alone since i couldnt find any help.. so i installed diablo 2 but once i did the video test.. it said i do not have any video drivers.. so i went online and downloaded the ATI driver thingy.. ( not so good with computers) but during installation it says ERROR: Set up your display adaptor with a standard VGA.. and i was like i bought this stupid computer 3 months ago.. a Dell 8400 with ATI radeon x300 128mb
when i went to the device manger there wasnt any display adaptor section.. and i dont think i have a chipset thingymajigee.. when i went the display section it showed vgasave
also, when i went to run: dxdiag for the direct x diagnostictool, there was a blcoks for directdraw and direct3d.. and it showed the problems on the bottom.

The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.

To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.

Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

so like i said before i downloaded the latest driver off ati's website but now it says somethin about the display adaptor to use vga standard..

if you have any ideas or tips it can help me ALOT since its the long boring summer TY

System Specs

Welcome to the forums

1. Get the latest Catalyst Driver from www.ati.com (either Catalyst Control Center version or Control Panel version)
2. Grab Drivercleaner Pro from www.drivercleaner.net then install it an run Internet-Update to get the latest cleaning files
3. Go to control panel, see if there is anything ATI, and uninstall them all one by one, answering "No" to questions about rebooting.
4. When all are uninstalled, reboot, and Tap F8 at reboot to get into safe mode.
5. When in safe mode, run DriverCleaner Pro and clean with multiple selection, including anything that begins with "ATI" except ATI IGP part.
6. Restart
7. Install latest official ATI drivers you downloaded in the first place.

Note, make sure you have all Windows Updates installed prior to doing it all.

Good luck
