new sounds with 5.6 when i close the laptop

anyone else get new sounds when you close the lid of your laptop? im wondering if the new mobility support it telling the computer something diff, cause i get a device CONNECT when i close the lid and a Disconnect when i open it
Also, when i open it, the display will come on for a sec, go away, and then come back again, very annoying!! anyone know what might cause this? it happened before but i did a system restore and went back to i think 5.3 that time.. but i cant now becuase i just had to repair XPs files so no restore right now..
and its REALLY annoying!
