Edit:It's also newer than ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2/T2e

One question: I have a Mobility Radeon 9700.. the driver works fine, but the resolution for my wide-screen display doesn't get detected (1280x800)...
will this get fixed in the next version...
and how can I enable this resolution manually as temporarly solution?

Another question, i read on the ATI website, that the catalyst mobility only supports X700 and X800 cards.
This driver seems to be a different one, but i can't get to this page from the website root, strange isn't it ???
bye

But did they make 2 differents drivers, one for X700-X800 and one for the other mobilities ? Or did they just forget some cards on the readme of the X700-X800 driver ?
thanks

No.. I don't would say that they made two different driver sets:
What you can normally currently download is the under 1MB file with which you can test if your card is supported... I believe if the card would be supported you get access to the driver (URL). But I believe the tester program is not up-to-date or to forgot to remove the need of the test program or whatever...

Btw. I now manually change the one entry DALNonStandardModesBCD1 to the following to get wide-screen working (although I hope this will be included next time from the fly):

HKR,, DALNonStandardModesBCD1, %REG_BINARY%,10,24,06,00,00,00,00,60,10,24,04,80,0 0,00,00,60,12,80,06,00,00,00,00,60,12,80,07,68,00, 00,00,60,12,80,08,00,00,00,00,60,08,00,04,80,00,00 ,00,60,16,80,10,50,00,00,00,60,19,20,12,00,00,00,0 0,60,09,60,06,00,00,00,00,60,08,48,04,80,00,00,00, 60,16,00,10,24,00,00,00,60

so these drivers have no 1280x800 support on mr9700??

thats what i have..

with the desktop 5.7 installed.. i do get 1280x800.. maybe i should just stick with it since its running great..

what do you think zero.. are these gonna be any faster then the desktop 5.7??

hmmm just realised the link only has the ccc version.. i prefer cp versions of the driver.. is there a cp version of these?

Yeah 1680x1050 works also perfect on my 9700. If you realy don't want the CCC, just open the drives, lets it extract it to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-7-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_24089 when you can press Next in the setup, just quit it... remove the ACE folder from the C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-7-mobile_xp_dd_ccc_enu_24089 folder and just run setup It wont install the CCC, or just de-select in @ custum setup..

Here is the link to the newest Control Panel: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-7_xp-2k_cp_24085.exe

@vulkan: It should work with widescreen resolutions, my 1680x1050 is detected fine.

@CHUCKCHUCK: The X700/X800 mobility drivers are the same as these. They "officially" release these drivers as only x700/x800 drivers but when you check the inf drivers files you just see that it support more than just the x700/x800

Strange... mine didn't get detected.. only after changing the one value I mentioned above...

@PoTaTox:
I just wanted to mention this...
I mean that you would just need to select Custom and just install the driver and then go and download the latest ControlPanel from the ATI-Website...

But since v5.6 (and with v5.7 even better) is the CCC extremely nice too...

I don't like thinks in my tray I realy like the option that let you keep the aspect rate (4:3) and also let you play fullscreen with widescreen on a x700 card. That 2nd option isn't available on my m9700 I only can do keep aspect rate, by showing the resolution that you are running in realy size. So that 1280x1024 would be nice fullscreen and still 4:3, but when I run an app @ 1024x786 the screen is to tiny The x700 has the fullscreen option, so that 1024 would be extrapoled to like 1280 so that the image is covering the whole screen, but this is 4:3...

is anyone getting a funky CP is they choose not to install CCC and install the 5.7 CP instead
i get a REALLY OLD version of CP (had open GL and direct3d as 2 seperate tabs, like back in 5.2 or so)
no smartgart, few others missing
do these drivers not play well with the CP from there?
should i just learn to like CCC (60MB!???)
i think i might try modding 5.7 full and try that with the CP and see if it works, then ill know

Just wondering...

Where'd the list of supported cards come from? Can't find it at ATI's site (release notes for the Cat 5.7's say they only support X700 and X800 from certain manufacturers - dated 7-15-05) and the links are directly to files.

Makes you want to say hmmmmmm.....

If you look in the driver files you see at the beginning which cars are supported...

@Canon20d:
Because CP and CCC ist just a wrapper for changing the settings you probably have downloaded an older version or something like this... go to download the CP over the Desktop drivers from ATI-Website...
this should be the right one: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-7_xp-2k_cp_24085.exe

And if the CP from 5.7 doesn't work... try the one from 5.6:
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-6_xp-2k_cp_23864.exe

Or as said you could also download ATI-Tray-Tools...

Abgesehen davon braucht CCC schon seit Version 5.6 keine 60MB RAM mehr....

Drivers seem to run fine in CS:S and WoW, but when I try and load up Call of Duty/Medal of Honor on my Mobility FireGL T2, they both crash right at the beginning Dunno what might cause this.

Exactly! Don't wast your time with these if you have 9600, they don't support native resolutions. Sure I can manually mod the .inf but if I have to modify the .inf file to get the native resolution prior to installation I might as well use Pat's Mod tool. I tried them and for me it was the biggest waste of time and alot of time it was, two attempts to download before it downloaded and not to mention the time it took to get which was about a week's worth of periodic downloading due to the slowest servers(I guess) and timeout errors.

I wouldn't mess with these either, but I do understand you can learn something about the characteristics of the driver and how it works on your computer if, like the members posting here, you can find the time and are willing to take the risk...

I realy got no problems on my 9700. As some know the 9600 and the 9700 uses the same driver properties. My 1680x1050 WSXGA+ screen is just working fine. As a mather of fact these drivers are just showing all the resolutions my WSXGA+ can handle.. the Catalyst 5.6 where showing higher resolutions than my screen could handle
/me is happy

So if it doesn't work for you, I recommend to use patje's patch with 5.7 or use the omega drivers.

Did you have to add the resolutions to the .inf file?

Ok, I have a 9600; I download the program on the ATI site and it says that it's not supported...Why? I have a Radeon 9600, but it's not supported? What's on the go?

Edit: Basically I said screw it and I downloaded Patje's Modder, and the 5.7s and now all is well. ATI BLA!
