exclamation ATI Catalyst 5.8 Mobility drivers

Okay, also the official mobility drivers have been updated: http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/
Same like as before, it update automaticly to the newest drivers

Supported cards:
"ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2/T2e"
"ATI MOBILITY FireGL V3100"
"ATI MOBILITY FireGL V3200"
"ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5000"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9500"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9550"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9800"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X300"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X600 SE"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X800"
"ATI MOBILITY RADEON X800 XT"

Just like the older mobility drivers, it WILL work on the hardware listed. The Ati website it saying only x700/x800, but that's not true.

Please don't go asking question like "wil it work on my [some card of the list]". It should be working. All other hardware will not install, use Patje's patch if you want to use it on other hardware then listed (think that will work).

Nope, but you can just de-select CCC in costum install and install the CP instead: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-8_xp-2k_cp_25203.exe

Normaly the CPanel isn't included and doesn't install when you un-select the CCC. You have to download it from the link above

Catalyst 5.7 and 5.8

equipment:

HP nc6000 with Mobility Radeon 9600. Acer AL2032W widescreen with a native res of: 1680x1050.

installed both Catalyst 5.7 and 5.8 in turn (uninstalled 5.7 before installing 5.8...) but cant seem to select this max res in either Catalyst version. what am i doing wrong?

also, when i use Moninfo.exe (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/files/moninfo.exe) to detect the screen res, it doesnt show that this resolution is available. but i have had it running at this res when i plug into an Apple screen (1860x1050 as well) and then back to the Acer. however, if i reboot, i loose the selection for this res...!

any help would be grateful, as i'v been up and down, calling Customer support lines of Acer, HP and ATI, with no joy.

regards,
Long.

ive got a similar problem on mywidescreen laptop. native res 1280x800 but for some reason i cant set it higher than 1024x768. running a radeon 9700 on a sager 3790 centrino 1.7ghz. didnt have catalyst installed before, just the drivers that came with the computer (i believe previous versions of catalyst didnt allow installation on my computer...maybe because of widescreen?). anyone else have this problem (other than Long of course) or a fix hopefully?

Very strange, on my Asus M6900ne it works just perfectly with widescreen (1680x1050). You tried the normal catalyst with patje's patch?

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/patje/ Work well on my Radeon 9600 Mobility, even in CCC flavor.

Yock is on a distinguished road

Anyone know if this 5.8 version has the white line in the bottom of the screen on 1680 x 1050 screens in non native resulutions?

Also do the omega drivers have the same white white line?

Im asking because ever since i decraded to 5.3 its like my grafic quality is crap to say it midly, everything seems to bright and it seems to be missing some green also.. Makes you wonder if the 5.3 ever was made to support the X700...
