My friend's Mobility Card...
my friend's have a compaq laptop, it has a 9200 label on the keybroad and the OEM driver also shows that it is a 9200, however, ever time i want to try to install a new driver (modded, omega, ngo or dna), it said it is a 9000 card, and if i use 9000 driver, the screen will never be on again.....................................
my friend cant use the old driver because most in most game it will have texture error or speed up the game a lot, any hero could sovlve this problem, he is on fire!!! |

Have you tried the DH Mobility Modder on the ATI Official set from a clean (video - after uninstalling the previous control panel and driver, then using the DH DriverCleaner) install? I believe Patje's modder supports the 9200 Mobility.

If you do have a mobility radeon 9200, you can use the Normal Desktop Catalyst (5.8) drivers without modding. So try installing those first. (didn't see you tried them or not)
This is from the inf file: "MOBILITY / RADEON 9200/9250 Series" = ati2mtag_RV280, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_5C61&SUBSYS_0640174B "MOBILITY / RADEON 9200/9250 Series - Secondary" = ati2mtag_RV280, if that doesnt' work, open the CX_xxx.inf file in the C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-8_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_25203\Driver\2KXP_INF folder with notepad. goto the "mobility / radeon..." line and remove the "&SUBSYS_0640174B" part. save the file and try to reinstall.

has anyone out there tried this? I too suffer from the 9x00 Mobility problem (where LCD is not detected or handled properly) and the screen is white after the XP splash screen then fades to mostly black and some garbage by the time the logon dialog should appear. HP Pavilion zt3000. This occurs on anything post Catalyst 5.6, as far as I can tell.
Also even back when using derivatives of Catalyst 5.6 (DHmod, Omega) and following recommended install procedures, my Mobility 9200 is always recognized as a 9000. In fact when using the DHmod method and installing by updating the driver as instructed/recommended (as opposed to being able to run the ATI install utility) the list of available drivers is empty when browsing anywhere else except where the 9000 drivers are. HP drivers and HP website specs of course list it as a Mobility 9200. |
