req: x700 bios

hi guys... i just bought a brand new amilo 1667g with an ati x700 mobility.
unfortunately the bios of this x700 is missing powerplay support (must be a manufacturing mistake since it should support powerplay and the notebook has a hardware key to enable powerplay).
so i'm looking for someone that can dump his x700 bios with powerplay support. the x700 in the a1667g has got 128 mb.
the first question is, do i need a bios with exactly the same memory size?
i've got another question coming up, do i need to flash my x700 with a bios from fujitsu-siemens or can i use any brand as long as it's a x700?
last but not least, i hope someone can dump me a x700 mobilty bios with pp support.

thanks in advance!

edit: chipset information from the CCC coming up!

I sure want to dump it for you, but i can't use ATITool for it, it says it can't get the BIOS file from the card.

Do you have a other way, and can you do something with my bios, my clock speeds are higher. 360/330 (660 DDR).

i don't know of any other method to grab a rom, but maybe you should try to download the latest ( maybe even the beta of ati tool ) version.. link: http://atitool.techpowerup.com/

edit: just found out about atiflash, it can dump roms too.. check it out at: http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/ , scroll down!

thanks!

Sorry, it won't let me dump the BIOS and i know why now. It's because the VGA bios is integrated in the system BIOS in my laptop. Allways when a bios update comes out for my laptop, there is always a VGA bios change in the changelog of that BIOS.

Maybe someone else can dump his VGA bios for dutty?

???

i really don't like to be pushy but since this thread has vanished out of the view i'd like to bring it back since a whole community depends on this (all amilo a1667g users from amilo-forum.de).

some users tried to help me out, but some x700 bios were locked and some just dump trash, like a bios file with the correct size approx 60kb but filled with 0x03 bytes to the end.

does somebody know a solution to this?

and the main request is still up, we're looking for a person that can dump his x700 128mb bios with powerplay support.

but, if you know how to change some bios bit-flags like powerplay support on/off that would help out too.

thank you!

heh...i guess i can join the club ((

not only does the control panel not have powerplay option but the card is about 1200 3dmarks2003 slower than the other lappy i have which is acer 1693 with comparable spec as this amilo 1667g

the aquamark wont even run all the way to the end to display the score...some memory cannot be written error...i am installin world of warcraft now and i hope it will runonit but i dont hold my hopoes very high...it almost looks like chipset problem

+ the damn DVD drive vibrates like crazy ((

oh yeah i almost forgot...the cpu doesnever seem to run at full 1600mhz...only at 800 and 400 on idle...crazy stuff...looks like a piece of junk in comparison to the intel based acer 1693...hate to say it like that but its true

any advice is welcome

tnx

well.. that's the reason for the x700 in the amilo a1776g beeing slower than the other x700 laptop.. alot of x700 are underclocked because fsc/asus or whoever chose to use DDR1 instead of DDR2/3.
edit; simply use atitool to set the clock back.

the cpu is a powernow cpu it clocks itself during runtime, doing that like 50times per second. so as soon as your "application" requires power it gets the power. if you want your cpu to run at full power all the time and waste precious resources then simply click on the battery/ac-adapter icon in the lower right and select as energy-source "desktop". cpu will now run at 1600mhz all the time, dont care what windows or anything else displays, use something useful like amd powermonitor (www.amd.com->downloads->utitilies)

the reason is "oh so simple" - the powerplay options has been fuXx0red out of the a1667g bios. same as with some other laptops.

but, all games worked perfect, and for a fact i know users using 3dmark/aquamark.
maybe you should update to the latest mobility 5.1 - would help a lot.
but "some memory could not be written" sounds very bad, maybe you have dead DDR rams built in...

and my dvd-rom is not roaring like yours... its doing fine

believe me the a1667g is a great machine!

but.. my request is still up, looking for a 128mb x700 bios.

edit: if you are from germany i can highly recommend amilo-forum.de

thanks for replying...unfortunately, when i set the other machine clock down to amilo clocks the benchmarks are still noticably faster 3d mark2003 by 1000 and 3dmark2005 by 450...and aquamark even though it crashes at the very end, when i run both laptops at the same time the framerate count is always noticably higher on the intel based acer, even though the fujitsu crashes before displaying the final result..so either via or fujitsu fuxed something up pretty bad...or they need a new chipset driver or something

anyway i will play around with it some more to see if i can get it to at least run without crashing in aqmark3, even though it ran fine other games tried

ah, i forgot to tell you, there is a manufacturing bug in most amilo a1667g.. turn your amilo around so you look at the bottom of it. check out the cpu fan exhaust port, do you notice that 2/3 of it has not been cut out? i would recommend you opening the chasis of it and cutting it out manually, this should also greatly improve the peformance of your amilo.
as said, aquamark worked for most people, maybe yoour gpu/cpu is getting to hot because of that closed fan port. check it out, and tell me if it's the cause.

can you post both 3dmark results (both cards need the same clock rates gpu and mem)?

lol...this just keeps getting better and better...the opening is in fact not cut open all the way...hate to say it but this truly is disappointing ...dont even know what i can cut the opening with....need some kind of laser lol

anyways...3dmark2003: acer 60xx...fujitsu 47xx
3dmark2005 acer 25xx fujitsu 21xx

this is when i downclock the acer to 350/300

oh lord, this is a big difference. do both laptops run the same operating system? both on DDR1 ram? win2003 and xp seem to have a big difference in speed.
oh and most importantly, have you got the same drivers installed? i mean, exactly the same drivers.

by the way, use a cutter.

same os and same drivers were tested...also in omegadrivers there is a banch option in overclock menu which produces the exact same scores on both machines...so the x700 are identical...it further supports the theory that the via chipset is poorly done...or missing some serious windows support

btw what are your or other users scores on the machine?

well.. i can recommend you to not use the latest omega drivers, they slow down your system greatly... atleast they slow down amilos, use the default ati 5.1a drivers without CCC, i'm getting about 5000 3dmarks , which i thought was ok, but hearing that you get 6000 on the acer worries me.

i dont think the via chipset has got something to do with it

ok with the all the newest drivers possible and official ati drivers 5.10 this is the situation

3dmark03 acer 5735 fuji 4778
3dmark05 acer 2544 fuji 2209

(obviously omegadrivers do quite a lot for acer since i had 6000 in 03 last time , while fujitsu stayed pretty much the same)

fear in game benchmark...virually no difference on any resloution/setting...acer winning for like a frame or two ...maybe 3d mark is bogus :P

this is of course for the clocks 350/300

so i panicked for nothing...the machines are identical hehe

but i guess we still have to look for the proper bios.
