Frames lost when using Omega Cat Drivers with Mobility 9700
Hey all, new guy here with a problem that's been driving me nuts!
I have a Sony S170 laptop, with the following specs as best as I can remember: Pentium M 1.7 Ghz 512MB RAM Mobility 9700 128/128 60 gig drive, 5400 I think The original SONY drivers can be found here: http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-do...d=1572&os_id=7 I’m using the latest Omega ATI drivers. I’m using SP2 and the latest updates from Microsoft. I was using the drivers provided by Sony, but they’ve been causing a nasty crash, and I had to get rid of them. I switched over to the latest Omega Drivers, which have fixed the crash. However, with the Sony driver I used to get a decent frame rate in World of Warcraft (around 40, with textures all the way up, highlights on, view distance about half-way). With the new catalyst drivers, I get about 60 frames as long as I’m not moving, and in a nice enclosed space. As soon as I start rotating the view I drop to less than one frame, or as soon as people start moving into my view. This persists for a few seconds, then my frames will smooth out again. Turning the textures all the way down helps, but my frame rate still drops considerably when moving or when loading new things. Is it possible that the Omega drivers are using my RAM more than my old drivers? This seems like a logical conclusion as the problem seems to be loading objects, and especially textures. I’d really appreciate any help you can offer, as I think I’m stuck using either Omega or DNA drivers at this point. Thanks in advance. |
