Custom resolution for ATI driver?

I've been trying to update my laptop drivers for over a year now. I've tried the Omega, DNA and official Catalyst drivers, but none of them support the weird 1280x854 resolution I need (see this thread for one of my earlier attempts).

My question is pretty simple: in what section in the CX_*.inf file are the supported resolutions defined? Or is there a way to change or add a custom resolution after driver installation in the registry?
