I know veridian doesnt like to take credit for anything, but he really has been working his ass off directly with Asus for almost 2 weeks on this guys, while other sites were publishing reviews on the motherboard to get the hits, Veridian told me he had to hold off on publishing as he had to report 3 or 4 issues and wanted our readership to get informed and accurate testing results. He was the first journalist to document the problems in a manner that asus HAD to listen.

In fairness to Asus and ATI, they really have been cooperating with us on this 100%, especially ATI who really have been pressuring Asus to get the issues resolved.

Hopefully ATi will pressure ASUS to do something with the A8R-MVP as well, since it has ATI's RD480.

I will also say that ATi has been pressuring Asus to help with this. I believe that Asus will fix this soon too.

Thanks Zardon and Veridian3

for all your work in getting ASUS and ATI to listen ,I also commend you in standing by what you found in your tests and not going along with the masses ( other reviewers) I for one will only trust your reviews in the future, for you have the courage to speak the truth and not speak with forked tongue.

thanks again from all at OcUk forums

hope asus dont sit on there butt for to long on this

You know ive been reading this thread and the huge thread over at OCUK forums (and a few other places), and there is nothing I would like more than to host this bios. It actually makes me feel quite sad that there are so many end customers with this board having problems.

Unfortunately due to legal agreements and relationships this is not possible. Rest assured however we have made Asus aware of the gravity of the situation and that we strongly feel it is in their best interests to get a new bios out (even if it is beta). A beta bios placing the risks in the hands of the end user is better in my opinion than the current mess.

However there really is only so much we can do to push this, but we really hope they do something within the next week.

Has this BIOS fixed the other issues with this Board? or are some reamining.
Asus sent us the 0033 today and told us they are working on another one that should be ready for release soon.

Its fixed all of the issues i was seeing other than the LAN config one. For that i'm having a second board sent out to confirm if it is a hardware issue or not as asus cannot re-create.

For every person having a problem with the A8R32-MVP there are 5 people having problems with the A8R-MVP. The A8R32-MVP is apparently being fixed, thanks to your hard work, but I don't see why ASUS decided to listen to you guys and work on fixing the "high-end" board RIGHT AWAY and completely screw everyone who bought the A8R-MVP.

Thanks a ton for that!

Could you guys please post updates of both boards when they're available, even if this is an A8R32-MVP thread?

Do you know if Asus are aware of the data transfer noise emitting through the board, or is this something that is damaged at hardware level (faulty coil/cap)

There seems to be alot of us with this problem

When I first had an issue Asus sent me a 2nd board. niether had any issues with the either LAN port.
I have only had issues with PCmark05, BF2, HL2,and COD2. I did not run quake4. Fear works, however the frame rate would constantly go from around 32 to 999 during game play.

then once the "stuttering started you could even see it in HDD tests when running HDTach.

I will be testing with the new BIOS tonight. I will PM you with the results if you would like

Just post in here, i'm sure everyone would be interested to see your findings. Hopefully, 0033 will fix the issues you have like it did for me.

I just want to say that I am under the same restrictions on releasing this BIOS as Driverheaven is.
I cannot send it to anyone.
I do believe that Asus will be releasing this soon though.

I have heard the high pitched noise with Geil One RAM and Kingston HyperX. using Corsair XMS Pro I did not.

it was not loud enough to be a concern to me though.
However, come to think of it, the noise did seem to start about when the stuttering would start.

either way I will see if the 2 are llinked at all and post back here.

Sadly this is a terrible issue on the Asus A8R-MVP as well. Sometimes I think it's either the low quality of the capacitors/coils, or the fact these utilize only 1-3 phase power design.

What's so troubling about this whole ordeal, is the tremendous amount of people who had/have trouble with the Asus A8R-MVP too, and it seems Asus did not learn from their recent mistakes. What's equally bad, is the general disdain Asus shows for us individual end-users. Most times they act like we're asking for a kidney instead of asking for help... and often times just appear to ignore ever present issues (BIOS update for A8R-MVP?)...

I wish there was one good motherboard company that was dedicated to the performance tweakers, with an excellent cross-ship RMA policy, good (polite/patient tech support), and didn't appear to abandon their users. I've hoped for a long time Asus would become that company...

Zardon - thanks for your earlier post. You're a good man. All of you are good people. WIsh everyone luck with their A8R32. I sure hope they can get performance and stability up to where it could be.

Ok I can confirm that my Battle Field 2 and HalfLife 2 problems are corrected with this BIOS.
before the stuttering started after only 10 minutes of play. I have tested the system for a little over an Hour now with out issue in either of those games.
I will test Call of Duty 2 and PCMark 05 in a minute and report back here

Asus will be releasing the "fixed" bios as version 0311 on their website shortly. Besides the personnel here there were several other people working directly with Asus on these issues, issues due to driver conflicts, hardware combinations, and of course bios issues. However, the initial bios delivered on the pre-release boards did not have several of the issues reported which is why some of the review sites did not see these issues in testing.

PCMark05 and a RAM Slot issue is also corrected. HDD tests are what they should be now also

Looks like this is going to fix the issues that we had with this board.
As Bingo13 mentioned the new BIOS should be out soon on Asus' website.

Bingo, the original BIOS version that was on my board was 0201 I flashed foward to 0307 then back to 0118 after the NDA lifted. none of those fixed the issue. the latest one 0033 has. I noticed that many sites were using timedemo benches and not in game testing. but I cannot say that about all of them.

I've used every bios that was available and i agree with Sean, each one did have the issues reported (or at least the most serious ones such as Sandra, PCMark and game stuttering/HD issues).
